Pat, I think you are correct. My old eyes missed the Ford script logo on the bottom of the face. That logo does usually mean '36, although it should fit and work in either '35 or '36, but would not...

Yes, they are serviceable, and can also be completely rebuilt to work as good as new. I know of a couple good sources to have them repaired/rebuilt.

On the ones he has rewound/rebuilt for me, they have my initials etched into the bottom, or on the sides of the bottom. Also a lettered date code of the rebuild, and a build number were all etched...

The later gear sets from a side shift trans will definitely go into a '39 top load case, as well as the earlier top load cases. I just put the later 29 tooth cluster/15 tooth input gears into a 35...

Michael, some of the engine building guru's who post here also say that special threaded plug is not that important, but I've always made sure the correct plug went into any FH engine I have from 35...
