Re: 1935 Radio Mounting

Tim-

I have a '35 with original radio. I know the long bolts look out of place sticking up so high. This is not a misfit arrangement. You need the long bolts to drop down the radio so it can...

Re: 1936 Vacuum Assisted Brakes

Jeff-

Such a thing did exist. In fact, about a year ago I drove a '36 with this brake system on it and it did brake much better than a well tuned mechanical system. Enclosed is a picture of the...

Re: 1936 ford coupes- door glass size

I believe you will find the 3 window coupe door is wider (40") and hence the window is longer that the five window coupe door opening (34 1/4") which would have a shorter glass opening.

Re: 36 Spare Wheel mount.

I agree with JM35. On my '35 coupe with 30K original miles there are three round fiber washers.

Re: 36 Ford drag link orientation question

This is an old swap item. I have never done it but I torn down a '46 Ford two years ago for parts that had an 8BA engine in it. It had the early pan for steering clearance. I sold the pan(and...

Re: 36 Ford drag link orientation question

I can't believe the length of this thread. Wouldn't the simplest solution be to just change the pan to a '49-'51 Mercury? '52-'53 pans are different.

Re: 6 volt turn signals ????

I have seen several applications of '60s VW turn signal kits (6 volt), mounted in early Fords. When the housing is painted the same color as the steering column it looks factory.

Re: 36 Ford drag link orientation question

I am not really convinced that shimming the engine mounting would solve your problem. I suspect it would more likely lead to some big time clutch chatter especially if a lot of shims were added....

Re: 36 Ford drag link orientation question

David-

To the best of my knowledge there is no such thing as an "American Mercury truck." However, Canada did have a Mercury truck line. As for engine size, I am not totally positive but I...

Re: 36 Ford drag link orientation question

David-

Looking at your pictures I see a possible cause of your problems. You have a '49-'53 truck oil pan NOT a '49-'53 Mercury pan. A '49-'53 Merc pan has a shallow set-back sump to give...

Canada also had them:

Re: exhaust pipe wrap

I agree with "Supereal." A heat shield is the way to go. I was having exhaust heat (NOT gases), work itself into the cab. To get around this I made a simple shield from sheet metal and bolted it...

Re: Risk of using old (over 10 years) tires

Re: Remote master cylinder fill

I have used the "search" to see what others have done. The articles I read date back a few years and it doesn't look like the system is foolproof. Any new ideas out there?
