Re: Expecting too much from '40 steering box?

One other adjustment that could be checked is the number of shims used in adjusting the worm bearing. Removing too many will result in stiffness in revolving the steering wheel and not allowing the...

Re: removing the complete windshield

I just replaced the rubber around my '36 coupe windshield. I did remove the windshield--not difficult. The old seal came out in one piece and the new one (continuous loop from Macs) should be...

Re: Pictures of 35 Coupe

Here is a rear view of a '36 coupe (looks about the same as a '35 from this view). It has same size front and rear radial tires with spyder hubcaps.

Re: mallory coil with resistor

I don't know what you mean by "vintage" Mallory distributor? I am using a modern dual pt. Mallory dist. and have a 12 volt coil that reads "no external resistor needed". So far, my points look good...

Re: 12V or not to 12V

I have been very happy switching to 12 volts. It is easy to do. A good source of information is a booklet called "Official 12-volt Conversion Guide" by Randy Rundle. (PM me is you are interested in...

Re: Ever Heard of the mid 1930s Ford Lawn Partys?

My Dad would have been a few years older than those kids and he did pilot B-17's in WWII. I'll bet some of those kids , now grammas and grampas are still alive today!

Re: Ignition switch, fused or not?

In the EZ Wiring guide, the use of a fusible link (or Maxi, Magnum Fuse by Ron Francis) is required or the warranty on the harness system is void. There is normally a 10 ga. wire from the battery...

Re: '40 steering box in a '36 problems

I am not sure what you mean by the "box is worn out"? How is that possible? Could it be that the box is warped near the adjuster screw? I also have a situation where the adjuster screw is screwed...

Re: Diecast restoration

You might get lucky enough to find your same or similar diecast vehicle (I assume) on "EPay" as a "parts car" or a good one for a greatly reduced price compared to new.

Re: Another wheel and tire question

Ken, the wheels are '36 but the tires are 215/70 R16 with 3"WW from Diamond Back Radials. We like them especially with the 3.54 rear end and the T-5 transmission.
