The same thing happened on my 40. You might be better off modifying the base plate with new holes to give you the angle you desire. You could cut off the MT ears and make new ears out of washers cut...

Re: how to measure crankshaft end play
According to the Motors Repair Manual the crankshaft endplay for the 1952-53 V-8 239 cu. in engine is .004 to .008 in. I would think 1950 engine would be the same.

My Ford and Mercury Chassis Parts List 1938-41 Pass. Cars and Trucks Manual shows the radiator for the O1C pickup truck to be the same as the radiator for the cars 1939-41.
Part # is 91A-80005-B....

On a 40 coupe the front has the wide side to the inside.
On the rear the wide side is toward the outside.
I would think the same is for a 4 door as the fenders are the same.

Truth is, our empty "Ford shoes" shoes will never be filled, just replaced by the newer style. Time just marches on and history recedes, replaced by the new.

It might be easier to just use a GM one wire alternator as brackets are already
available. Direct bolt in.

This OEM generator is for a 1953 Ford 8BA using wide belts.. With the shiny sheet metal cover removed, the outside dia. of the case is 4 7/8 inches. (123.825mm) It's for sale. Wish you were closer.
