Three weeks for a mild acid attacking the radiator lead soldered seams seem like a lot of time to me. I'd hate to weaken the solder.

I bought some of the bad bearings before I knew about them and put them in a type 39 tranny. 300 miles later I pulled the tranny and put the better ones in. The bad bearings were still in tact, but...

I would agree. That diode will have a very small leak (draw) even when brand new. When it goes you will see a big draw.

I worked in law enforcement and we did a test on WD40 and a alcohol breath testing machine. Sprayed a bit on the skin and in 10 seconds ran the test and it showed up on the machine as a blood alcohol...

One of the better mechanics in our club has a 28 Phaeton assembled in Argentina that is RHD. He's doing the mechanical for the restoration. It's interesting to see how they put all the linkages...

Patience and lift the head evenly seems to be the key. Anytime you get the head higher anywhere it seems to bind on the studs. Lifting evenly seems to do the trick. I have one of the commercial head...
