how much carbon? you could use the old school solution. warm engine up and squirt water into the carb at about 1000 to 1500 rmp

most trouble I have had with these is leaking around where the seals overlap in the center and ends where the outside trim piece fits

funny you should comment, just threw away four rust-o-leum cans. I have started using the red primer from my local true value hardware, it is their brand never have had a failure and it is rustoleum...

3/8 " pipe tap, that was not a temp sender but the water heater outlet pipe, put a 3/8" brass pipe plug in the tapped out hole with antiseize

if it runs, dribble a little brake fluid into the carb, then dribble MMO or ATF this will "fog" the valve guide and loosen stuck valves--sometimes you can free up a stuck exhaust valve by gently...

no 59 on bell housing, A heads which would have needed to have some milling work to work on a 59 eng--I would suggest that it is a 39 to 41 engine put in a 47 truck

what is happening is the usable cores for 239/255 8ba, 8rt, 8cm we are finding all are just worn out, been rebuilt in the past to 60/80 over and we trying to avoid the cost of sleeving 8 cylinders. ...

how old are the plug wires? inserted into the inner caps all the way until you hear the "pop" of them seating all the way change out the rotor--still sounds like a bleed off of spark

did you insulate the distributor shaft? with higher amperage coil conversions we are getting a bleed thru the rotor grounding on the shaft, use two layers of heat shrink tape, one at a time. ...

OK some of you guys are going off the deep end. turns out the alternator internal regulator was spiking voltage as high as 16 and this was causing most if not all the problem

OK, I just about give up, have tried everything I know of and still cannot get this truck to run properly. everyone thinks it is ign. but I even tried another carb, another condenser and a coil off...

sync the carbs, one carb has the throttle plates open more than the other one making it run like that. second thing I would look for is bound up throttle linkage which is holding the plates open

tried two more coils with the same results just exactly how hot does a coil get? these get so hot you cannot even touch them with out burning your fingers
