Re: Speedo restoration

Nice!

We are getting ready to head back to NC for the summer but I'm hoping to get a few more things done on the pickup first.

Re: Oil capacity clarification

I have an 8RT dipstick which is considerably different than the 8BA which is why I asked the question. Here is the overall difference and a close up.

I ended up putting a total of 5 qts in there....

Re: Oil capacity clarification

Re: Oil capacity clarification

I think you have identified the issue. I do indeed have a tube that is 7 3/4", BUT my FULL mark on the dipstick is actually at 13 5/8". This is on a dipstick stamped as 8BA.

Re: Steering box mystery

Well, after thinking about this 'wire down the shaft' comment, I am now wondering how they keep from wearing the insulation off the wire after you have made a few thousand turns of the steering...

Re: Steering box mystery

Oh...makes perfect sense now. So I must have one '40 box and one '39 or earlier box. And all of the horn rods I have are pre- '40.

Thanks, guys.

Re: DIY headliner bows

You might think about using brake line. You might also be able to use those large wire terminals to mount them. The terminals will fit over the end of the brake line. Make a jig to bend the curves...

Re: '35 pickup hood hinge

Good info folks. Thanks. I took another look at my hinge. Half of it appears to be fastened from the factory with the exception of 2 rivets. I think I can use this as a pattern.
