Oddly enough I have done the same thing . Make sure the engine won,t start ,no ignition ,or if it started you might get hurt with a spinning drill .Don,t think a half inch drill is big enough.

The best anti rust you can get is Acetone. And ATF. Oil 50-50 I have worked a lot with rust restoring my WW 2. Military v ehicles .loosen most things in 24 hrs cheep to buy in most hardwares

Putt some small nuts in the tank and shake it by putting it in a vehicle and drive on some wash board road. Then treat it with gas tank liner .available from n most old car dealers
