Re: 6 Volt coil issues

On any engine without electronic ignition, if you are checking the spark by cranking over the engine, yes all the components need to be working.

Re: Recap of the "Let's get personal" thread

I have only recently acquired my A,(about a year ago) and I basically only drive it around town or on a couple county roads near town, as all 3 of the highways leading out of town are all 4 lane...

Re: New to Model A

If the starter is unbolted and it won't come off/out, I am thinking that you have something really tight /jammed onto the starter. If it was the starter keeping the engine from turning, you have...

Re: 29 CC Pickup, loose hinge pin fix wanted.

How about some JB weld on the pin before installing it? Or just add some brass to the pin rather than the hole.

I am 75, but some days feel even older. But in my mind I am much younger. I just bought my A a year ago.

Re: Block Crack Sealer

I am an old John Deere lover, and maybe my memory is going, but I was wondering what a BO JD is.

Re: Coupe leg room

That is the reason that I bought a Tudor. Easy to move the drivers seat back a few inches. I love the looks of a roadster, but absolutely couldn't get my feet into the drivers side. Actually, a...

Re: first oil change - which oil?

I totally agree with everything you said, and I kinda know what I am talking about, as I have been a pro mechanic for 50+ years. Although I am a newby on Model A's, Gas and oil is pretty much the...

Re: first oil change - which oil?

I use 15w40 oil like Rotella or similar, and it has plenty of zddp (if it even needs high zinc).
But then I am a newby to model A's also. But those who know have said that is a good, but not the...

Re: MAFCA TecTip - Lub Steering Gear

I believe corn head grease is close to 00 but may be slightly thicker, not sure. The 00 I use which is the same grease/oil that every Snapper dealer should have is also known as cotton picker...

Re: Fiction or Fact ?

I remember having a customer come in with an early Falcon with a stick, complaining that there was a problem, because every time she let out the clutch the engine died. Well, she had a chevy 6...

Re: New Tires

Five dollars is about right for what my local tire shop charges. To take a wheel off car, find the leak, dismount tire, put patch on inside, and remount and reinstall on car is $10

Re: New Tires

I am just curious---is the tread worn out on the old tires? The sidewall that I can see in the picture looks excellent. Not a crack in sight.

Re: HELP! I can't start my 28 roadster!

Have you used the car since you got it? If so, you must know the procedure to start it. Are you sure you are doing all the steps? I have forgot to turn on the switch on occasion, to the safety...

Re: Another rare eBay find!

One of my favorite things is the backwards door handle on the outside of the drivers door. This has to be one of the most messed up "stock" A's I have seen.
