I am trying to get another shaft to replace the one in the steering box - mine having been turned down to now being too small to fit to ford steering wheel. A BARNer has offered me a rhd 34 box, so...

So that will just mean that the sector shaft will hang out further out of the steering box if fitted to an earlier steering box?

Update - I phoned the company, and they informed me that they refunded the price of the parts - So when I got me credit card statement this whole exercise has left me $200 out of pocket, with me...

Long story short - I ordered a rhd worm and sector from MACS - for my $400 Aussie dollars, I got a $100 shipping bill, $50 in fees, and .... wait for it a Left hand drive worm and a left hand drive...

Oh well, that idea seems to have gone nowhere.

I have been informed that a 36 sector is way too short to use in a 32-34 steering box, as can be seen in the attached picture.

It would seem as though right hand drive 33-34 steering sector shafts in a 15:1 ratio are out of stock in the major supplier's online catalogs :(

fortunately at least worm gears are still...

I pulled the outer tube off the column, and it seems as the end of the shaft has been turned down.

Maybe it was turned down to suit a Y model wheel, like others have suggested.

The steering box is definitely a gemmer, full sized steering box. The Y models are tiny by comparison.

Confusion reigns - 32 and 38 steering wheel interchangeability

I recently purchased a right hand drive 32 steering column and box from a guy in the USA - it came out of a rhd racecar originally built in England.

I went to fit a 38 banjo steering wheel to it...

30/31 v 32-34 steering box mounts

Just wondering if anyone can tell me if a 30-31 adjustable steering box chassis mount will interchange with the chassis mounting section of a 32-34 steering box?
