Re: torque all head nuts

Hallo Bajuware,

the Cu-seals settle through the effects of temperature and vibrations. Therefore, they have to be tightened after about 10 hours of operation.

There are two variants: loosen...

Re: Oil Pressure - OK

Thanks for the affords answers.

The reason for my question about the final pressure of the oil pump is as follows: I have switched to an oil filter. Since I drive SAE 50 blocks the fine...

Re: Oil Pressure - OK

Thanks for the hints. I think I wrote a misunderstanding question.

I did not mean the delivery pressure in the open line. Rather, I mean the pressure that the pump with a closed outlet pipe...

Re: Scratching first gear?!?!

Andreas,

if it only scratches on gear # 1 at standing car and not at # 2 u. 3, then disconnects the clutch right.

As written above:
Low idle <500 RPM or a half second time between the...

Wunderschönen guten Abend!

Since the day before yesterday my machine has been running again with the new piston rings and the inserted connecting rods.

Yesterday I drove 40 carefully miles...

Re: Lower cylinder head

Guten Abend,
thanks for the hint. I cut a thin cardboard gasket myself today because the surface on the enginebloc was very scarred and I glued it with a thin lay of silicone rubber.

Re: Lower cylinder head

Guten Abend.
Is it really true that the thick copper-clad seal under the goose neck can lead to breakage? Because of the great screwing power for the head? And therefore only a thin paper seal...

Re: How to mount the piston rings from above?

Guten Tag.

The new rings arrived yesterday. Hastings look different than the previously assembled ones.

The second pressure ring had a lower nose on the outside for additional wiping off of...

Re: Fix or Replace

Yes, this is very important! -

I replaced all cables individually with new ones (old finish) with a slightly larger diameter. I have installed fuses so that they cannot be seen. And also a...

Re: Grease

I replaced all nipples with modern so called "hydraulic nipples". (They have the same thread.) They can be lubricated with any modern grease gun.

Re: Bad rod bearing

SAJ, I meant to grind the connecting rod caps with the inserted bearing shells together on a lapping stone. Only some few µm.

Re: Shifting Problem

No. The higher distance should reduce the possibility that the inside of the fork might press vertically onto the gear grooves.

Re: Shifting Problem

chrs,
that was the same after/with my revision.

Have you tried an additional or 3rd lid seal? The forks may only touch the gears on their flank sides. They must not press on the gear grooves...

Re: Bad rod bearing

Hi!

In the meantime I have measured the modern connecting rods with the replaceable bearing shells on the crankshaft. The gap dimension in mm are .051; .040; .051; .051. Measured with Hastings...

Re: Lower cylinder head

Hallo, here are now a few measurements that are perhaps sometimes helpful to others:

The grounded/planed cylinder head height is 94.5 mm up to the "goose"-flange.

The modern head gasket...

Re: How to mount the piston rings from above?

Guten Abend!

Thanks for all the advices. I have now ordered the .6 Hastings piston ring sets by Bratton's parts.

I think that attaching an angular chamfer to the top of the engine block...

Re: High fuel consumption?!?!

Yes, I use it since 15 years. Not for fine tuning, but they are very good to check the ground-adjustment.

How to mount the piston rings from above?

Hallo und guten Abend,

today when I installing the pistons, the lower oil drainage rings were extremely difficult to thread into the cylinder from above. Even with the help of a piston ring...

Re: High fuel consumption?!?!

Tach Andreas,

the high consumption is not unusual. >3.3 l displacement, compressed only 4: 1, this results in a large throughput with very little efficiency (about <15%!).

Leaning only helps...
