Re: Needing Help Getting Vintage Wig-Wag License Topper Working

I believe you have a part missing. The stiff wire shown in the pics switches the voltage to the coils as the flag moves right and left. As the wire passes across the contact plates it turns on the...

Re: Radial Inner Tubes vs regular tubes

One of our club members installed bias ply tubes in his radial tires.. It was a disaster. At least 6 of them failed. The flexing of the tire rubbed holes in the tubes to the point they failed.

Re: 12V conversion, headlights, taillights, starter

There have been several posts stating that when converting to 12 volts there is no need to do anything to the starter or change it to 12 volts. That is absolutely true UNTIL you discover that the...

Re: 1930 e brake return spring

The ebrake rods have springs on them. They pull the rods and lever back to normal. No separate return spring for the brake lever.

Re: Cork rear main seal opinions?

They seem to work great for a few hundred miles then they have the tendency to leak. And some times pretty bad. We just had one reversed. Welded the slinger back on the shaft and put it back like...

Re: How can I hold the windshield open, roadster PU

The problem is the cup washer in the pivot post. Repro cup washers will not hold the windshield open due to its shape. The shape does not correspond to that of the round portion of the post. You...

Re: no power at coil

You did a good job on the 1st distributor. Go back to the 2nd distributor you rebuilt and look closely where the wire coming up from the lower plate is attached to the points. Make sure it is not...

Re: Major rear main oil leak

We had the same problem with the modern seal modification. In less than 5K miles on a new rebuild it leaked very bad. You don't want to know how it was fixed.

Re: 6 volts to coil constant

Oldspert, based on the tests you ran with the volt meter your car is still wired as it was originally. The wringing diagram on post 4 is correct for your car.

Re: Model a head on model b engine

Agree with posts 5 &7. Had a couple in my shop that leaked using Best Copper gaskets. Plugging the holes stopped the leaks. Agree, it is not necessary to plug the holes unless the gasket leaks....

Re: A head on B engine

Yes a Model A head will fit a B engine. A good choice would be a 6:1 High Compression Head. Don't forget to plug the "Steam" holes in the block.

Re: Marvel Schebler vs B Zenith

On a 4k trip my 30 TS with 6:1 Head, Stipe 340, oversize intakes, Balanced crank, 25%OD, AC and a B carb averaged 19 to 21 mpg. If B carbs get poorer mileage I have not experienced it.

Re: Driveshaft housing

Only if it has a '30 fuel tank.
If the instrument panel will fit the fuel tank it is a early '30 tank.
Oval and Round instrument panels...

Re: I am now a model A owner,

You are going to be inundated with "to do" things to it. My 2 cents is to THINK first. Decide what you want the car to do.
