Remove rear wagon seats?

I'm embarrassed to say I'm stumped by how to get the rear seats out of my '58 Country Sedan- the manual is silent on all things wagon, naturally. I'm not seeing any obvious hardware, so I assume they...

Re: Getting wheel well covers off

Is the wheel well profile the same for '55-'59? I'd assumed there wasn't much carryover between '56-'57. 3D scanning/building the buck is the time-consuming part, so it would definitely decrease the...

Re: Getting wheel well covers off

I'd thought about setting up for proper production of these, but I'm not certain how much demand there is for them. I have access to the correct rubber material in the correct colors, and while I...

Need a '57-'58 wagon upper tailgate

I'll make a significant road trip for the right piece, thanks!
Only piece of sheetmetal not original to my wagon, and the one I have is a rusty mess.

Re: Getting wheel well covers off

I'm coincidentally in the middle of doing just this project on my wagon. It isn't a coating, it's the same rubber material as the wagon cargo mats, but with an embossed pebble pattern rather than the...

Re: Toploader speedo cable mystery

No ID tag, looks like a later version case to my uneducated eye.
Did early Fords use a similar bullet setup? Could this just be the PO's creative engineering at work?

Toploader speedo cable mystery

I bought a neglected old '58 Ford nine-passenger Country Sedan field car that's turned out to be something very different than I had anticipated- turns out that it was a project someone had put a...

Re: Towing capacity of a 292

I'm an old trailer guy in addition to an old car guy. I'm not saying there weren't hydraulic brakes out there that tied into the vehicle master (sounds like a nightmare to bleed), but I've never seen...

Re: 56 Sedan Delivery license plate pad gasket

Pretty sure the sedan delivery and wagons use the same license plate bracket- on my '55 sedan delivery, the arm is bent inside the door to prevent the bracket from hinging upwards like it does when a...

Re: 62 Falcon V8 conversion

Somewhere I have an magazine article from '61 with a lovely Y-block stuffed in a brand new Falcon. I've had a few Windsor-powered Falcons, but I always thought a 312 in an early car would be very...

Re: 55 ford wagon keys question

St. Maries, where this was in service from new until the early '90s, is a very small town in rural Idaho, meaning this was almost certainly a fleet of one. Sounds plausible otherwise. It's probably...

Re: 62 Falcon V8 tranmission?

For about the same price as a good toploader I bought a Modern Driveline adapter and crossmember and had a WC T5 locally built (custom geared to my specs, even) when I swapped out the 3-sp toploader...

Re: 62 Falcon V8 tranmission?

Given the prices for good toploaders, why not a T5?

Re: 55 ford wagon keys question

Yep, Ford data plate present (as well as a tag from the coachbuilder), but it's a plain old U-code 272. 78A Sedan Delivery, mid-year Y-code Mountain Green paint over AE Dark Copper interior (although...

Re: 55 ford wagon keys question

Interesting- my '55 Courier uses the same square ignition key for the front doors, glove box, and rear door- one key works for the entire vehicle. I expected the usual square-round combo I'm familiar...

Re: 64 Galaxie w/manual steering hard to turn

If it's the car in your sig photo, I'd start by rethinking your tire choice. These cars steered just fine without power assist back in the day, but nobody was running giant rubber, either. That big...

Re: Drilling on carpet for safety belts

That's what disposable $1.99 Harbor Freight soldering irons are for- no way I'd use one of my good irons.

Re: Two-Door Ford and Mercury Wagons

Basically a standard Mainline dash, a couple of extra toggle switches for the lights and a mic holder for the two-way radio (which I have). The siren is operated by a floor switch to the left of the...

Re: Drilling on carpet for safety belts

I use a cheap soldering iron to melt any necessary holes through carpet- no chance of creating a run, prevents the screws/bolts from pulling the yarn, too.

I've been trying without success for over a month to register at the forums at y-blocksforever.com. The registration page reports "Registration Disabled", and in a nifty white font on a white...

Re: A Pillar Wind Noise Water Leaks

That's incredibly an incredibly useful diagram, Dave- it oughta be a sticky.

Do I understand correctly that you used just the two pieces, B5A-5943706-C glued to the body and B5A-5941608-D glued...

Re: A Pillar Wind Noise Water Leaks

Thanks, Dave, I appreciate it. What did you use for the rear door seal on your Courier? I might try this same stuff there.

Re: 1955 272 vacuum line routing?

I posted more pics over in the 2-door wagon thread, impossible not to get a big grin while driving it around town. It spent most of its life sitting in unheated garages, so it's not in bad shape.

Re: A Pillar Wind Noise Water Leaks

I know this is an old thread, but can you tell me where you cut the 1/8" off the Metro LP 64A? Would it be across the bottom or the left?
