Re: Rebuilt Steering Box Adjustment Question

Chill the shaft in the freezer to shrink it. Heat the gear on an incandescent light bulb to expand it. Not so much force required to press it on. I did this with the front wheel bearing races...

Re: New production wheels

Just my opinion, but good originals are still out there. I stopped by a garage sale just yesterday that had a lot of old looking stuff and sure enough there was a beautiful (to me) 21 wheel. No bent...

Re: Sealer for removeable trunk

Spar varnish would probably work, and is fairly easy to get. I am unfamiliar with the aircraft dope mentioned earlier, though that sounds like an ideal solution. Shellac would not hold up well in...

Re: Pothole, now right only!?!

I got the chance to work on my A this weekend, started out by removing the steering stabilizer and tried to go for a drive, the car shook so hard I thought I’d break all my teeth. Next I replaced all...

Re: Stilmobile Mail Carrier

The stiltmobile and a tracked version called the eskimobile were made in my home town of Almena Wisconsin. Just down the road from my house. Made by the Swanson machine co. They also made a ford...

Re: Pothole, now right only!?!

Thanks for the replies, doing a quick visual, I think the mount on the steering stabilizer kit installed by the previous owner got bumped out of place and is catching on the engine mount. I will dig...

Pothole, now right only!?!

Had to take the A out for a drive on this nice spring day. I hit a rather large pothole that was obscured by water. The car jumped nearly off the road and now it is nearly impossible to turn the...

Re: emergency radiator repair

My grandpa had an A when he was a teenager and used the egg method. I had a leaky radiatior and he just cracked an egg in it and it quit leaking. One whole egg, he said you could throw another one in...

Re: Need advice on clutch problem

I had the same problem, lubed the pedal shaft and the zerk in the bell housing and everything is nice and smooth and the pedal comes all the way up now.

Re: radius rod bolt trouble...very odd

When I did mine, I was able to hold the bolts steady with a punch held in the hole where the pin goes. It was a pain, but it worked. I got an all new original style mount, as someone had put in the...
