Re: trying to reach Yankee Mike

I dealt with that goof a few years ago on some carburetors and he sent me the wrong parts and said he would make it right and then he went silent and wouldn’t respond. It cost me a lot of money on...

Re: Non-Authentic Paint Colors & Schemes

As long as the fenders are painted Black and they stay away from metallic colors I’m okay with it. To me nothing ruins the looks of an otherwise stock Model A than non Black fenders.

Re: PCV on multiple carb intake

That’s good enough for me, I’ll forget about the idea. Thanks for your input Jseery.

PCV on multiple carb intake

I’m going to be putting an Edelbrock 4x2 on my 8ba and was wondering if it’s worth goofing around trying to add a pcv system to the engine. This intake has small transfer ports between the carbs....

Re: Model AA High Speed Rear Axel

I’m pretty sure the 5.14 set was only available on the mid 30 to 31 models.

Re: Any AA trucks running 55mph?

Wheel balance is going to be the problem. There’s a lot of weight in one wheel/tire/tube/flap assembly. I had my front wheels dynamically balanced on my AA but the fenders would still shake over 50...

Re: Model A prices...going which way?

I think the body styles that were traditionally turned into hot rods back in the 40s and 50s are still holding good values. Roadsters and Coupes (not sport coupes) done in a traditional hot rod style...

Re: 8BA compression issues

I just had a similar issue with a flathead 6 Continental on an air compressor when I went to sandblast my Model A body last month. The motor had sat unused for several years but was loose enough to...

Re: Newly acquired '31 AA

Nice looking Truck! I bought my 31 AA when I was about the same age as you are now. Nice to see some younger guys step up to the plate to preserve the old stuff. You and your family will have a...

Re: Flathead city, Gary Howard, Grants Pass, Or

Bob Drake Ford parts is in Grant’s Pass. Perhaps a call to them might provide some useful information. They had a bulletin board in the store where locals post Ford stuff for sale.

Re: Master Cylinder Gift Horse

A smaller piston will result in more input effort.

Re: 1-1/2 Ton Transmission / Overdrive / Gearing Options

When I had my BB I adapted a model 400 Hone-o-drive. They are a little hard to find though.

Re: Warford Secondary - Educate Me

Good find. When I was into AAs I was looking for one but never found one but talked to a guy with one in an AA. Most were over/direct/under drives with straight cut gears apparently they are quite...

Re: Finished - Custom 20x10 Super Singles For My 1936 1-1/2 Ton

You did a great job and because of your fab skills and knowledge you were able to do it cost effectively but I would bet those would be very expensive wheels for the average old truck enthusiast to...

Re: 1936 Model 51 Dump - GVWR - Commercial Reg. Issues

After reading this I couldn’t help but wonder if they consider Motorhomes as commercial vehicles. Most all are duallys and some are tag axles. There must be a loophole for RVs. Maybe you could keep...

Re: Finished - Custom 20x10 Super Singles For My 1936 1-1/2 Ton

Very nice job and the tire choice compliments the early look. At first glance it still has somewhat of the dually look. Shame you had to go to all that effort and your state troopers can’t overlook...

Re: stromberg 41's

No reproduction 81s that I’m aware of. Occasionally they are listed on the Hamb for sale. Be prepared to have some significant dough tied up in them by the time you find some decent ones then buy...

Re: 59AB head stud question

I thought it was a big no no to tap the head bolt holes?
That being said if there was a list of the top three mistakes to make when building a Flathead what would they be?

Re: Flathead prices back in the day

Well you’re still using an obsolete engine as an example. The 302 hasn’t been used in a new production vehicle for over 20 years. You aren’t going to get a current model rebuilt engine for two...

Re: Weiand 8.75 Heads

Both good points.
I like the idea of the foil balls. What is the recommended minimum clearance from piston crown to head and from open valve to head?
