Re: Come on, people, buy the danged book!

I agree with Steve and want to second what Bones said.
The Service Manual, THE MODEL T FORDOWNER and a copy of the Service Bulletins Essentials and you will have nearly all the info you will ever...

Re: Something let go in the tranny

Check the U Joint also. You may have sheared a pin or split the joint....
Doesn't sound like rear end because you can turn it without slippage as noted above.

Good luck.

Re: help ignition wires

Here is how I did it as a wet behind the ears 16 yr old after I had restored my '27 touring chassis. All you need is a length of 12 or 10 gauge wire and two good alligator clips on each end. Battery...

Re: T parts Auction Yesterday

It was a good sale though sad circumstance due to the loss of a long time Model T guy, Bob Prouse. Several things went at a good price, and knowing Bob I know he would be glad it went to folks that...

Re: Ruckstell : To rebuild or not to rebuild

Steve's right. Stan Howell mentions that nearly all the Ruckstells he's seen and rebuilt are just plain worn out. They got abused pretty bad back in the day. I would open 'er up and check it out. You...

Re: what manifold is this?

There was a Simmons vaporizer that is very similar to the Holly version. It had a handle to change the heating plate for winter vs. summer driving. This one is a holly. Some folks like them, some...

Re: Carb Rebuild 1914 Ford

Dennis,

A good stop gap would be to grab a working NH Holly and replace for the time being. Then work on the carb that's there. That will get you on the road. The way you mentioned the gas dumping...

Re: Value of my 27 runabout

Brent,

I think I saw one last night on craigslist.
I look again and let you know if it was the right deck lid.

Re: ruxtell rear end

It's an underdrive to give the car that much needed middle 2nd gear. Good for hill climbing but you can put a set of 3:1 high speed gears in it and that will give you higher top end.
I would only do...

Re: car will not run on magneto

Do you have an outside Mag fed oil line?
Sometimes these can short the Mag.
Make sure the fitting for the line is not screwed in to tight as it will contact the mag post and kill the Mag.

Also...

Re: Gotta go look......yard art in indiana

That's about what the touring looked like back in '77.
Paid $150 for her.

All you could see were headlights and honeysuckle... :)

Re: Damaged motor

Scott,

That sounds like the rod alone then.
When you pull the engine down check the valves. If they have the two little holes on top for the oldfashioned valve grinder then they are most likely...

Re: Damaged motor

Scott,

I will bet you have the old two piece valves in that engine.
One of the valve heads broke off and was jammed into the head by the piston that then blew apart.

Do you have a crack in the...

Re: Any idea what this is?

That's more than what's needed to start a new project!
There may be a whole car down there.
Reminds me of the joke about the hat found in the desert after the sand storm.....

Re: Old Historie about Model T Barn

Ok, the story I love and think “well it could be true” goes like this:
There was a railroad freight yard (pick a location, Detroit works best) and sometime in the late 1960’s or early 70’s they had...

Re: What year is this barn find?

Very nice barn find.
Also has a nice aftermarket carb.
Looks like a Stromburg?
Stan Howe in Mont. can restore that carb to better than new, they are supposed to be good running carbs.

Re: engine paint

If you wanted fit and finish back in those days from Ford you bought a Lincoln Model L not a Flivver. :D

Of Course you could buy what??? Ten Model T's for the price of the one Model L?

Re: Spark plugs - 1925 T Coupe

Racemo,

I would rethink the 14mm plugs and spend a bit more and buy some Champion X's for Lizzie. They run really good. And they are the correct 1/2" pipe thread.

They are the plug of the...

Re: Anyone attend the T auction today in WI?

What a shame.
We don't have big sales of cheap parts out here on the east coast.
At least that I know of. Stuff often brings $$$ for junk. I guess most of the parts in this neck of the woods went...
