Re: Installing tie rods without removing backing plate?

I have a couple of old sockets that instead of fitting some nut or bolt have a blade for large slotted plugs or screws. Maybe a tool vender can find one for you.

Re: Best riding A?

I have 600 X 16 Radials, brand new with less than 200 miles on them. They ride better than the old Goodyears bias tires I took off, but just a tad.I might drop the psi in the tubes and see if that...

Re: Best riding A?

Yeh, my shocks are from the late RP. They were leaking before I got them on the car. Not sure I can get a decent adjustment out of them. I had three sets over the years, you're right, I never learn....

Best riding A?

I have a 31 coupe that has original type shocks which appear to be in fair condition. Like all I have ever had, they leaked from day one, but did seem to improve the ride. I tried some after market...

Re: Cleaning the radiator

This will be my second round with the vinegar. I did us dish washer soap before I started the last time. Didn't see signs of grease in the water this time. Last time it was a real mess until I got...

Cleaning the radiator

Filled it with three gallons of distilled white vinegar. Plan to drive it for about three weeks, drain, rinse with tap water then refill with distilled water and a cup of baking soda for week or so,...

Re: Model "A" Goals For 2024

Getting rid of the on/off electric switch for my 31 coupe fuel line. It was okay but now it is way too hot to touch and fails often, shutting the engine down at the $%^& times. Bypassed it and car...

Re: Classtique Upholstery

So maybe, and it seems obviously true to me, instead of worrying so much about leaving a better word for our children, we should concentrate on leaving better children for the world.

Re: amp meter question

So my amp meter is defective? I thought that and luck has it that I have several. So, short of hooking them up and starting the vehicle, is there a quick test to determine whether they register or...

Re: Embarking on a Laycock-overdrive odyssey

One could run a "pilot light" to tell you when the O/D is energized. This would also let you know if the lockout switch fails to operate. I avoided doing that as I felt one advantage to the Lay-Cock...

amp meter question

my amp meter is showing a constant charge, I'd guess about 6 amps, but that is all it does, key on or off, motor running or not, the needle fails to change position. This in a negative ground, 12V...

Re: Embarking on a Laycock-overdrive odyssey

The easiest part to do is wiring the Lay-cock so it won't get the solenoid energized when the transmission is in reverse, which will destroy of badly damage the O/D unit. Looking at a transmission...

Re: Brake Drums - Advice Regarding Their Use

Synchro Yes, and it isn't all that hard to do' I bought two bushings from a local hardware store to fill in the gap between the size of the front shafts and the rears. It was bronze and I did spin it...

Re: Brake Drums - Advice Regarding Their Use

Following what another member of this forum did, I bought two rear brake arms and replaced the two fronts on my Coupe with the taller rears. I haven't tried to see how much better they are with a...

Re: Welding Rear Springs

You can replace that main leaf for about @150.00 in California, with a new leaf. Take the old one with you to the spring shop. Get the same thickness and length. I just did a front and had the eyes...
