The "2G" series was still being used in '65 on Chevys, although they may be of the "2GC" or even "2GV" type. "2GC" has the round choke housing attached, whereas the "2GV" has the choke stove...

"aftermarket replacement" drum/hub assembly for 1940 and '41, like in 19Fordy's pictures above this post.

Center section of WHAT? There's a center section of a rear axle, but I doubt any of those were 'STAMPED STEEL'. Where else would we find a CENTER SECTION on a post-war Merc? Could you possibly be...

The axle key should have tapered end INBOARD, with the beveled side of key DOWN in the slot, toward axle. DD
