The gap is critical Ford Spec are .0065 to .0125" for the 68- rotor used on the 39 distributor. If you have to file shoot for the Min. and with wear the gap will open. I would reconsider the...

See this posting below there is a good photo of the part, you may be able to pull it out by hand but it can and should be reused. If your block is 37 the part number is not 18-6335

Thin felt washer between the stick and the top of the tube. The felt us just below the round stop washer on the stick. Do not expect the felt from correcting the oil mist. but it may help.

Remove the adjustment screws and spray some carb cleaner it the two holes, can follow that up with a couple quick shots of low pressure maybe 10 PSI compressed air. Reinsert the adjustment screws...

From your photo I notice your using just the front carb choke. If the front carb is blocked shouldn't you be using just the rear carb choke?
