I believe these are rated at 30 amps. They will put out more, but that is their rating. There were some high output generators that put out 45 - 50 amps, but those were for special use.

There is no need for a heavy gauge wire to polarize. It is only carrying a few amps to the fields. After loosening the belt, just use a simple jumper wire from one cutout terminal to the other...

Indeed it does, I was thinking he was referring to the input side of the cutout. I stand corrected. That connection is on the output side so the cutout. The horn can be powered by the battery even...

The horn should not be connected to the cutout. Refer to the model A wiring diagram. A photo of what you are dealing with would help.
