Barry that is a scary picture reminds of my grandfather sticking pennies in the fuse box. I was a kid and knew this can't be right! Electricity is a mystery for a lot of people.

If the toggle switch cylinder is in good shape the grooves on the spring loaded click ball are all good I recommend not removing it or the brass plug.

I'm not quite sure of the differences between the '35 and '39 mechanically. I think they are very similar. Maybe someone with more '35 experience can jump in here.
