Re: Any electronic experts out there

I have some experience... Worked for 30 yeas as an electronics engineer. Not sure if a core placed on the coil wire would work, since the high energy bursts are also picked up by the bare copper...

Re: Any electronic experts out there

Every time a switch (in this case, a set of points) opens and closes, RF noise is generated. Add that to the original, uninsulated, unshielded copper spark plug wires and you have an antenna emitting...

Re: Modern distributor cap

Quite a bit of difference. With the modern cap the engine won't misfire when it gets wet, modern wires won't emit huge amounts of RFI when the car is running.

Re: Headlight resilver or repalace

The "fella in Ore" is most likely Uvira. Google it. They electroplate aluminum onto the reflector and polish it. I had it done on my old Graham MANY years ago and the brightness approached a sealed...

Re: Wanted-Good 55-56 Ford Station Wagon/Courrier Gas Tank

I've bought from them many times and have always been satisfied. The only issue I have with that tank is that the original sender cannot be used. Not sure why, but maybe this is a universal tank with...

Re: Wanted-Good 55-56 Ford Station Wagon/Courrier Gas Tank

I, too am looking for a gas tank. Maybe it's something in the air... I need this for a 54 Crestline. Auto City Classic's on-line catalog doesn't have it and neither does Spectra (could not find...

Re: AA Transmission Replacement

It doesn't get much easier than the Mitchell. I installed a 36% unit in my 28 AA in less than a day's work. Raised on the lift, dropped the torque tube, installed the Mitchell, drove it away. The...

Re: “Do not use a file” to dress down breaker points

Not sure I would use emery paper anywhere electrons are flowing. (points, armatures, etc) Emery is conductive and may short out to ground if grit accumulates. Sand paper would be a better choice if a...

Re: "B" Distributor timing with an "A" front cover

I believe the initial timing on the engine is set by the timing cover. When the pin drops into the hole with the A cover, the initial timing is at TDC. The B cover advances this initial timing by 19*...

Re: Over Drive

Thanks for the compliment. I asked about the input shaft, since the worm drive has a 10 spline shaft on the input. If yours is the same, there would be no change to attach. However, it might be a...

Re: Over Drive

I missed that you have a ring & pinion rear. Mine is the worm drive with 5:1 gears. Does yours have the 10 spline input shaft? If so, it may be the same as mine. Mitchell would know...

Re: 292 Y Block Electronic Ignition Conversion Advice

I'm still running 6 volts in my '54 with the 239. For better headlights, I installed the 12 volt LED's from Rodtiques, using their 12v inverter module. Why couldn't I run a 12 volt feed to the Accel...

I installed a 36% Mitchell in my 1928 AA firetruck and have had amazing results. Before the Mitchell, I could not do more than 20 mph without the engine screaming. Now 40-45 mph is easily obtained...

Re: help with Mallory Unilite Distributor
