FWIW, this works in 6-volt positive ground cars as well. GPS and phones only need 5 volts.

how do i refill a '36 gas gauge? or is that even a DIY project? looks like both ends of the thin reinforced tube are soldered on.

whoops. the pans are long gone. my mental inventory just ain't what it used to be. i do see them on ebay for $50 or so.

listen to jack. i'm afraid pete is blowing smoke. any cap IN SERIES with the feed wire will block the [DC] current. the old noise suppressor caps were 0.5 microfarad. i'll send you one...
