Re: In defense of 6 cylinders

The 2x1 intake is a Nicson. I found it at the old Pate Swap Meet in the early 90's. The exhaust on that engine is a stock manifold that I split for duals. That engine is in my street driven '51...

Re: In defense of 6 cylinders

I've got a 1950 Mechanix Illustrated Magazine where Tom McCahill compares a '50 Ford six with a V8. In a quarter mile, the six will consistently outrun the V8 up to the last 200 feet and the V8...

Smile Re: In defense of 6 cylinders

I have a couple of flathead sixes in shoeboxes that might take exception to some of this six bashing. Sorry about the double post. Tried to delete one of them.

I've got a couple of flathead sixes in shoeboxes that might take exception to some of this talk. Just cannot figure out how to attach pictures.

My Slant Windshield Town Sedan has a Vacuum Wiper Motor that was ordered from J. C. Whitney in 1981. Still works.

Re: 226 H parts suppliers

It's been 20 years but I got all my overhaul parts for a 226H from Kanter. Not sure now, but then the parts came in NOS original boxes. No Chinese junk.

Re: painting a license plate questions

My ex-wife painted my 1931 Texas plates. They turned out pretty good. Sprayed the entire plate with the background color. Painted the letter color with a foam rubber brush, cut to the exact width...

Re: Antique Auto Supply sold?

My first deal with Stacy was in 1969. I bought a radiator cap for a 1935 Studebaker Dictator Hearse. Asked if he had one, he started digging through a stack of boxes and out it came. Bought a lot...

Re: What's Behind Your Flattie?

I always heard that the weak link is the driveshaft pinion yoke on the stock rear end. I finally proved it a few years back (with a hopped up 226 six cylinder no less). I was 500 or so miles from...

Re: 1951 Starter 6&8

I believe the 6 cylinder starters have a 9 tooth drive while the V8 starters have a 10 tooth drive. Check the part numbers.

Re: ford h series water pump

I just looked. Kanter Auto Parts lists them in their catalog. Do a search for "Kanter Auto Parts". They have a listing for 41 to 51 six cylinder.
