Re: Rear axle shims- one or two?

I meant a wobble in the hub.

Before I knew better, I had a wobble in a drivers side rear wheel. I added one shim and tightened the wheel, (not knowing it needed to be torqued). Wobble came back...

Re: Rear axle shims- one or two?

I have to ask.

Was your axel torqued down properly? Should be 100. Might not need shims.

If you torque it to 100 and the hub is still moving, I would only add one shim.

Shouldn’t throw anything away.

Everything that I have put on EBay related to Model A’s has sold.

Even some items that I couldn’t believe someone would want. Enjoy.

We have a 1929 Sport Coupe that we have owned for 40 years.

In all that time, I have never been able to adjust it to fit as some people would say it needs to be.

Our problem could be from an...

Re: Bent Wishbone

When rebuilding the front end of our 29 twenty years ago, the restorer found when putting everything back together a similar problem.

They had to finally replace damaged wishbone with another one....

Re: Level in Gas Tank????

Your right, a half a tank of gas wont give off any vapor? Really?

I still say to empty it and let it breath. Yes there is still vapor, but at least there should be no gas to add more vapor.

Murphy’s Law. Have you heard of it?

IF SOMETHING WHERE TO HAPPEN. How do you explain it to your insurance company.

Don’t remove your engine pans. If you think it’s hot now, wait until you remove them!

You engine should be running around 170 degrees at the head. Add to that your exhaust manifold, and it can...

Re: Level in Gas Tank????

My personal view would be to drive it until it is almost empty. Than drain the rest. I also would let the tank vent for a while when empty.

I don’t like to work around open gas.

Re: Fan Belt Tension

I have had the same problem on and off for many years.

I spray a little WD40 on generator pully in front of belt. That solves the problem.

You don’t want the belt to tight. Enjoy.

If you restore cars for a living, you might have a different view of what should be called restored.

If you...

Re: Radiator flow rate

Be careful with thermostats. Model As were not designed to work with one. Remember, the Model As cooling system is mainly syphon flow, the pump is really only of any help at higher speeds.
