Just follow the wiring diagrams and you'll be okay. No need to try and check each wire as you go along. Insanity.

I am old school, Car Skin cleaner and Simonize paste wax have worked for me for 72 years. LOL (Sprinkle a little baking powder on the paste wax for fast easy removal and shine. Works for me.)

Good question. and why would you "bench test" a fuel pump? Just disconnect the outlet line and turn the engine over a few times and see if gas spirts out.

There was a guy, Hunley Acuff in Rossville Georgia who vulcanized the correct covers on your boards years ago. I don't know if he is still around or not. Try Googleing him. It's worth a shot.

35-36 Ford pickups did not come with an inside mirror, only one outside mirror mounted on the driver's side. That's probably why the guy filled and sanded the holes where a PO had mounted one because...

I'd be MIGHTY skeptical about dampening the cardboard unless you can support the whole enchilada evenly. You may wind up with a wavy/bumpy mess.
