Re: Rearching brake shoes.

I already offer the service hear in Ontario. People usually don't like the cost associated with shipping. I still do it on the side.

Re: Rearching brake shoes.

I am in Ontario Canada and have the shoe arcing machine that grinds off material so that it conforms to the diameter of the drum. Measure the drum, set the dial to the diameter and run the shoe and...

Re: Common Wealth Engines

An old time mechanic in Ontario told me back in the 80"s that Ford of Canada painted their engines grey. I have no way of knowing what shade of grey it might of been. Probably the same colour of grey...

Re: 1930 Ford Canadian Standard Pheaton 35-B Body Colours

I do not know of any paint chips that are available for the Canadian colours. You may want to check with the Canadian Model A Foundation to find out what information they have. www.cmaff.com

Re: What is this nut on the right side of the engine block?

It looks like the distributor lock screw and nut has been installed in error. Like others said, get the 1/8-27 pipe plug and install it.

Re: Model A Times Article About Not Using Diesel Oil

All anyone needs to do is call the Shell Helps Line and find out what Shell says about their Rotella T 15w40 being used in a antique gas engine. 1-800-661-1771.

Re: Detergent oil

You can use pretty much any modern oil you want. If you have Babbitt bearings I would stay away from the fuel saving oils like 5w20. Many people use diesel engine oil and others use synthetic.

Re: Canadian pickup # CAO 271

Canadian Model A's used a completely different number system than the American Plants. What you see as a zero is actually the letter O.
As to the engine number being from a late 30 in a early 28. It...

Re: 1930 Ford A Standard roadster. What is NOT correct?

The front bumper does look flat, maybe 28-29 bumper brackets are installed. Rear bumpers are from a 28-29. Something weird about the light switch/horn rod, it should be down more recessed into the...

Re: Horn/Light Switch Rod???

I guess I should have asked how far out the bottom does the horn rod stick out for the spring & spider to sit properly to engage the light switch.

Horn/Light Switch Rod???

Is there a way to determine the length of the horn rod to fit my car? It has the later style steering box with the letter F on the outer side.

Re: Chassis number

John is correct. Ford Canada stopped putting the engine number on the frame in about mid-way through 1928. Ford of Canada was the supplier to all countries of the British Commonwealth. I have no idea...

Re: Shock absorbers - modern style

Actually yes I have. All shocks are not created equal. There are gas shocks out there that just will not compress under a Model A.

Re: Shock absorbers - modern style

Mac's shocks are gas filled. Should never be used on a Model A. The Model A does not have enough weight to compress those shocks. Get oil filled shocks if you are going to go that route.

Re: Serial NUmber Question

I just went out and looked at my Canadian Engine and it has a star at both ends of the number. You may be correct about stamping the original number on the rebuild.

Re: Model A coupe serial number question

Canadian built A's do not have the engine number stamped on the frame. Don't waste your time lifting the body looking forit.

Re: Confused about motor oil prices

Crude oil is refined for fuel. Motor Oil uses a completely different type of base oil when it is manufactured. The barrel price has no bearing on what the price for motor oil is going to be.
