Talking Re: radio repair?

You might want to ask any local HAM radio guys in your area if they might work on it. A local young HAM operator in my area helped me get my '50 Ford OMF radio going. His price for the repair - a...

Re: Hershey Crisis

Re: How Many Years Have You Owned Your Car Or Truck?

Grandpop bought my Dad and Uncle the 1950 Ford Crestliner you see in 1953 at F. C. Adams Ford and Mercury, Elmer NJ. In 2004 Dad turned it over to me. In the family for 64 years.

Cool Re: Dilbert on Restoring Old Cars (and other garbage)

+1, I'm also an engineer. I've restored old cars, audio equipment, toy trains and even an original civil war cannon.

And I love Dilbert.

If an engineer isn't interested in mechanics and things...

Re: Not everyone likes old Fords.......

Dittos on car dealers not being 'car' people. We had a pleasant experience at a local Ford dealership and ended up buying my daughter a used Mercury Milan, but when I tried to chat up the sales man...

Re: Am I the only one?

I try hard to put things back when I'm done a job. Tools need a home and when they're not back home with their family at the end of the job, they're considered 'orphans'. Orphans tend to get lost and...

Re: Inferiority Complex

There was once a post, I think here, which asked something like "Did you find your car or did your car find you?" and I answered clearly the latter. I had no desire to own a classic, but when Dad...

Re: Something To Ponder...

Same here. I'm usually one of only a few flatheads on display. Too many shoeboxes with SBC's. If I see a stock flathead, I usually try to find and compliment the owner.

Bein' Palm Sunday weekend, I wasn't able to get out to Cowtown this year. I'm only about 1/2 hour away. Clem, maybe I'll see you in Strasburg on 4/17.

Re: Is your car planned or Fate?

Fate for sure. My '50 Crestliner adventures started with Dad's attempt to just 'dump money' into his car which turned into a disaster. Once the 'professionals' had their turn in butchering the...

Re: My Grandfather And His Tools...

I've got three girls and I still have problems with them walking away with my tools.

Re: Did you find your car or did it find you

My '50 Crestliner found me. My Dad and Uncle bought it locally in '53, while they were in college together and when they got married and left home, Dad managed to get the car. He drove it (beat it)...
