Re: How much Marvel Mystery Oil per tank?

I use MMO in my chainsaw, edger, and weed eater. I’ve never used it in my A.

Re: Hagerty Car Insurance

I had one of my antique vehicles insured by Gulfway. My State Farm agent is great! She knows all about antique auto insurance, valuations, and limits. She cut me a quote that has better coverage at a...

Re: American Pickers Model A .

The entire show is staged. I refuse to waste my precious free time watching that garbage. I apologize for being so blunt, but I see no point in sugar coating the truth.

Re: Engine Oil?

I just had another epiphany. When I first bought my A I thought that oil was a one-size-fits-all kind of a deal. In the two years that I have owned my car, I have learned a substantial amount about...

Re: Engine Oil?

My 2 cents plus tax:
I know the history of my car going back to 1968. The previous owners told me to run non-detergent 30 or 40 weight, and change the oil every 600 miles. I'm not one to fix what...

Yes, you can screw the console down to the floor. There are 2 recessed areas for screws.

Re: Inexpensive floor console

You're very welcome, Doug. I've learned so much from you and the rest of the Ford Barn gang over the years. It's nice to know that I can contribute in some small way.

Inexpensive floor console

I really wanted an inexpensive console for my '30 Town Sedan to put my water bottles and phone somewhere other than the front seat. The consoles specifically designed for Model A's cost $90; way out...

Re: If you could only do one... $$$

For me, neither. I would rather throw $2300 towards the purchase of another Model A to feed my addiction.

Re: White Walls (Just a question not trying to start a debate)

I might as well throw another log on the fire here. My Town Sedan has black rims. My current set of white walls, all 6, are bald. I took advantage of the deal Coker Tire is offering: free shipping...

Re: Available 6 volt bull horn kit?

Tom,

I wondered the same thing. I have a concern about mounting a 12 volt negative ground horn into a 6 volt positive ground system. Do you think polarity would be a problem?

Guess I gave s...

Available 6 volt bull horn kit?

My Town Sedan has the original 6 volt positive ground electrical system. I want a bull horn kit. I’ve searched for the Jubilee No. 90 kit in 6 volt, but they are extremely rare. All I can find are...

Re: introduction

There is a very active Facebook group for AA's. Fred Carlton runs it and posts pictures daily. I don't have a link for the group, but it should be easy to find. :-)

Re: Leg room

I'm 6'2" and 220 lbs. I found a couple of ways to increase legroom without major modifications. I removed the rubber pedal pads. I bought a pair of PF Flyers (similar to Converse Chuck Taylor's). The...

Re: Ethanol Free

Ethanol is a solvent. I breaks up varnish that has built up in the tank and fuel lines. It destroys gaskets and seals. It eats the fuel tank linings. It absorbs water. I will NEVER run ethanol fuel...

Re: Facebook

I'm on the MARC and MAFCA FB pages every day. The administrators work hard to keep both pages spam free and on topic. I look at them as more opportunities to learn about our beloved A's in an...

Re: Anybody have any info or help on Model A Speedsters

I just had a crazy thought that might interest you. If you have the time and desire, buy a running rolling chassis (with black walls) and build your own speedster!! Building a speedster sounds like a...

Re: Alternator Adjustment Bracket

I bought a new alternator from Mike's. It came with new brackets and detailed installation instructions. I'm really impressed with the quality of the brackets and the alternator.

Re: Engine stalls at stopsign

This may sound like an odd question, but what condition is your battery in ? Is your alternator / generator doing an effective job of charging the battery?

I think the consolidation of operations to Eckler's Florida location will benefit the Model A community. Management will be able to keep in close contact with the Model A parts division. Shipping...

Re: Recurring fuel leak on the bottom of carburetor

Thanks for the link, Mitch. My problem may very well be the red paper gasket itself. I will add 5 gasket kits from Bratton's to my next parts order.

Re: Recurring fuel leak on the bottom of carburetor

I have two gas shutoff valves. The first one is original. I leave I open all the time. The second one is a screw in type that was added by the previous owner. Every time I shut the car down, I close...

Re: Recurring fuel leak on the bottom of carburetor

A couple more things. My car is not a trailer queen. I have driven her 1,900 miles in 18 months. I drive her often. The longest she sits without being driven is 2 weeks. I know that my...

Recurring fuel leak on the bottom of carburetor

I had a fuel leak on the bottom of the carburetor again. I replaced the gasket on the 1/2" bolt on the bottom of the carburetor, which stopped the leak. The gasket was inflexible. This is the third...

Do you know any Model A owners that can help you figure out the cause of the smell?
