Vintage Edelbrock flathead intake-SOLD

It's a lot easier to simply remove the seat backs first, then lift out the seat bottom, leaving the frame to unbolt from the floor. Installation is the reverse. :)

I found some 5/32" tubular steel rivets for the wing vent hinge and lever mount, along with the garnish upper hinge and lever lock. What I need are the vent post rivets, which are 5/32" diameter...

#2-Yes, except lining up the timing pointer with the pulley dot is 2 degrees before TDC.
Yes, #1 should be be at the top of the compression stroke to set TDC.
Dwell should be 30 degrees,...

They are spring loaded and come out by using a screw driver, pushing in while moving up (for the bottom one) or down for the top dovetail. Installation is just the reverse.

Totally different transmissions. The '49-'64 Ford trans are narrow 4-bolt B/W pattern while the '49-'50(and some early '51) Mercurys are carry-over round pattern like the '32-'48 F/M transmissions. ...

I've used Valvoline VR-1 for over 40 years both as a break-in and regular use oil in HP ohv and flathead engines. VR-1 Racing street non-synthetic is reasonably priced and found in most auto parts...

The pcv would work even better if you kept the air intake at the front. This allows fresh air across the top of the engine before entering the crank case towards the rear, per the design of the 8BA....

I checked my Early Ford V8 Service Manual by Floyd Clymer and it also states 15 gallons, so Ray Miller is probably wrong. :o If I still had a '40 tank laying around I would use water to find out...
