Re: 46 pickup rear tube shock conversion bracket advice

Picture is of the brackets style that works with the spring U bolts on a parrallel leaf spring chassis. These move the bottom of the shock closer to the center
The pictures of the other style have...

Re: 46 pickup rear tube shock conversion bracket advice

Another route that to me is easier, get the tube shock brackets off a 48 to 52 F1.

The chassis is basically the same and they changed to tube shocks in 1948

Those bracket you have will...

Re: Cleaning an early aluminum intake

Careful of what chemical products you use, some will eat the aluminum if its soaked in ot too long.

Scrap off the big pieces and blast it will be the easiest and quickest way

Re: Question about 1938 Ford pickup

A 38 would also already have the 37/40 round back spindles. Besides the backing plates you just need a set of 39 pedals and cut the hole open for them to fit.

Post Re: Mismatched drums won't fit

Check the size of the drum, if they are used and have not been turned they can have a ridge not letting the new shoes pass. Also the shoes could be oversized.

Make sure you have the adjusters...

Re: unimportant question for '41-'48 owners

What about the funky heater that had duct work in the hood or a hotair heater off the exhaust

I remember the 6 cyl cars had the battery on the opposite side of a V8

Re: difference in F-1 frames ??

Basically yes but the 42 to 47 has a boxed section for the cross steer steering box, the 48 changed to drag link style .
Pre 48 was set up for lever action shocks.

You will be drilling out...

Re: 39 dlx hood vs 40 std hood interchangeable????

The shape were the hood meets the grill is supposed to be different so a 39 hood doesn't match up right with a 40 std grill and vise versa (so i am told) but i got a really rough 39 deluxe grill i...

Re: Ford "wide five" Brake Drums

36 is the only year with the long snout and the 36 spindle to match.

37 to 39 are short and the 39 is a 2 piece hub/ drum. 37 to 39 will interchange

Re: S-10 transmission on a flathead

The 53 bellhousing can be done like the mumert y block bell, but the T170 would be a much better choice.
