Re: Yes, times they are a changing

If I place my maximum bid on eBay my bid only shows as the next increment in the bidding progression. If someone bids using that “last second” software and takes the prize one dollar over my set...

Re: 1938 Door jamb bumper mystery

The bumper mentioned, p/n B-191442-A and -B is specified in the 1938 Hardware and Trimming Supplies catalog as being used on the 1935 Model 48 and 1936 Model 68 Convertible Sedans. With no mention of...

Re: 1938 Door jamb bumper mystery

Sorry, just saw this now, it’s from Ecklers. Just enter that p/n in a Google search and it will come up.

Re: 1938 Door jamb bumper mystery

That holder for the bumper appears to be the same as this one for some Model A’s, I wonder if the A bumper would work?

Re: What is this goop? Restored 1932 Victoria

Huh???

Looks like someone thought they were protecting the carpet and a set of rare, very few produced, mat and escutcheon sets that were ever made. No doubt his intentions were good and there was...

Re: just a heads-up

Well I watched the video and I’d say Matt and crew get kudos for saving another old Ford, and it was a tub too! Oops, I meant to say it’s a Convertible Sedan. I don’t agree about the “reality TV”...

Re: Front spring bolts hitting oil pan

It’s been said that the current reproduction rubber motor mount biscuits are of inferior quality and will settle a short time after installation. You might consider Googling “early Ford V8 motor...

Re: Hamtown Al

My comment was in no way directed at your post, I completely understand the connection AND the friendship that Tony and Al had. On the other hand if KiWinUS feels a need to shill his video then out...

Well there ya go, how’s that for the most tasteless thread hijack ever?

Hamtown Al

It is with deep regret that I inform the members here that Hamtown Al passed away on Sept. 15th.
Godspeed Al, you will be missed.

Re: What is it?

I think it may be a camshaft for a diesel with unit injectors. A low pressure pump feeds the injector and the cam lobe follower on the injector squeezes the fuel in the injector to atomize it. If it...

Re: Camber wrong on ‘35

Did you get those spindles with the brakes? If your brakes are original Lincoln you may have been sold Lincoln spindles, IIRC the king pin inclination is only 4* on those.

Re: 1939 2dr sedan window regulator screws

This should help, it’s from the Automotive Hardware and Trimming Supplies 1928-1938 Ford Genuine Parts catalog.

Re: Does the Chassis parts book cover door components?

It’s my understanding that the 1938 edition lists only items that were still available at that time. I’ve had the reprint for 50 years and refer to it often, I’ve always found it helpful. Body styles...

Re: The truck based woodie hits the screen

I always enjoyed following along on your build thread Gary, but the video is the icing on the cake. Well done, thanks.

Re: bent front axle?

Yes, manganese was used but an engineer by the name of Childe Harold Wills introduced Henry Ford to chrome vanadium back in the Model T era. Vanadium
enhanced the physical properties of steel and...

Re: Never seen this before

They were front wheel drive using a two speed transaxle, and that’s why there were no water pumps in the heads, the heads are turned around and the pumps could not be belt driven. The cast aluminum...

Re: Never seen this before

There was one larger water pump driven off the camshaft, with a magneto mounted on the inside of the firewall which was typical of a Miller car. A cable drive off the crank nose turned the mag.

Re: Never seen this before

The carburetors were Strombergs with some Harry Miller influence, they used 4 bolt bases with one large throttle plate. I believe Ted Horn was the first to switch to the manifold shown with the two...

Re: Front Disc Brakes

There are no brackets for the early spindles that I'm aware of, they are made for the larger '37-'48 bolt pattern.

Re: McCulloch supercharger

Not to take anything away from the efforts put forth on the above CD, but the VS57 is a completely different style of blower. The best information I have run across will be found in the August and...

Re: '35-'40 rear spring identification

Info from an old Hot Rod Magazine article, the dimensions are for the free length, not installed-

‘35-‘40 44”
‘41. 41 1/2”
‘42-‘48. 43”

The figures are not verified by me, let us...

Re: The holy grail of hot rods...

I’ll take the black one, less is more. The red car has too much gingerbread for my taste and even worse there are mixed themes in the build. Is it a roadster for cruising or does it want to be a race...

Re: Spindle bushing

Oilite is porous and that allows it to be self lubricating. The part is pressed from metal powder and sintered (fired) in a high temperature furnace for a set time producing near net size. In the...
