Re: '48 F1 4 speed trans color

Yes, here in Canada the transmissions were painted to match the engine colour.
The colour in those years was beige, and most people use Cummins Beige paint as its the closest approximation to the...

Re: 6v to 12v

In the one I bought there is no hole for the alignment pin at the bottom of the generator. What did you do about that? Just leave the pin out?

Not gonna lie, I had to google coax to see if that is really how it was spelled.
My brain will forever translate that into co-ax as in coaxial. Lol

Aside from that I always enjoy your videos...

Re: Rewiring my 40 random questions

Although not really for what you are trying to do, this stock wiring diagram I worked up will show you how typical factory wiring would have been done, if converted to 12V negative ground.

Re: 6 Volt heater motor rebuild

The heater motor used in 1940 would have been a four wire model.
They used forward and reverse for different defrost modes.

To make the NAPA motor work you would have to implement relays to...

Re: Looking for 1936 floorboard seals

My friend Bob has these new in the package, that he mistakenly purchased for his '35.

If you are interested, PM me and I will give you his contact information. We are in Canada.

Re: '40 brake lamp switch / master cylinder issue?

Do you happen to remember the NAPA part number for the master cylinder, and which Amazon switch you went with?

Re: 40 Pickup 4" Drop

I called Pete & Jakes today. The informed me that although they purchased the rights to the CE parts, due to the cost they have not reproduced those arms. So they are unobtanium.

They did have a...

Re: 40 Pickup 4" Drop

Offhand do you remember if the steering radius was affected? I'm trying to picture in my head if the 'through bolt' head will hit the axle.

(I attached a picture of a bolt sitting on my steering...

Re: 40 Pickup 4" Drop

I think if you were to take a poll of people on the ford barn with modified vs stock axles you would be quite surprised.

Re: 1940-41 pickup floor cab wood

I'm also missing that piece of wood. That kits you order for under the cab do not include it.
So if you find a source somewhere let me know.

Re: 40 Pickup 4" Drop

My steering arms provide a 2.875" drop. Which is not enough to clear the wishbones.

-On the roadster supply site, their deep drop steering arms provide a 4.125" drop. However they have no steering...

Thanks for the input guys.
I know not everyone uses the seals on the countershafts, but it seemed like an elegant solution to the oil leak problem.
Unfortunately from what Mac VanPelt says, the...

Last time I bought these I remember them being...

I think at the time they came off of Ebay. Now I can't...

Re: How many of you are doing total restorations?

Maybe we should just label this poll as 'Maintaining' and 'Restoring'
Authentic is a level that's well beyond most vehicles.
