Re: Holley 94 rebuild time

Nothing better than original needle valve. Organic or synthetic valves will get sticky or leak with the modern fuel. I’ve also heard that ball valves are not so good with the new fuel.

Re: 1938 Cigar Lighter

Jacques, If you enter it in a Concourse, the Judges, shouldn't be messing with it, so they'll never know unless you tell them.

Re: 1938 Cigar Lighter

Don, I'm sure you are correct. I replaced my knobs 30 years ago, and not finding a correct element, I put in this element. I seem to remember an initial fussing with it trying to make it automatic....

Re: 1938 Cigar Lighter

This has long been an issue with the '38 cigar lighter. Carpenter being the only replacement knob I know of, your idea is what I did on mine. Do not use epoxy on the lighter itself, for reasons of...

Re: Wildfire evacuation

Among all our other difficulties this year, it's important to keep your cool when you hear that sort of news piling on.

Re: Gas not getting to Carburetor

Blowing back to the tank may clear it, but don't blow through the pump, as that may damage the diaphram. You may also remove the flex hose for inspection, as it may be swollen closed or collapsed...

Re: 10 spline pinion 34 v 35 difference?

Ya never stop learning! I didn't know of the bearing difference.

There was also something I seem to recall about a late set into an early housing may require minor surgery to the housing for...

Re: Wildfire evacuation

For you guys in the East, when the particulates fall out, and the ash sticks to your car's paint, it won't just rinse off, you'll need suds and soft towel. Another reason to wear a mask, too.

Re: 10 spline pinion 34 v 35 difference?

If it's a 10 spline Ford from the era, it will fit. Even if it were a 6 spline, it could be made to fit with a 6/10 adapter coupling. Importantly, all Ford gear sets of the '32-'53 period are matched...

Re: adjusting 39 Ford pickup shocks

Clem, When installing newly rebuilt shocks myself, I clamped both in a large bench vise (not so easily), with both arms parallel pointing up. One hand on each, I push/pulled and adjusted to make them...

Re: Wildfire evacuation

Those who repeat political rhetoric in placing blame for natural disasters should be forgiven, for they know not what they say.
In these most difficult times, outstretch a hand if you mean well, but...

Re: What fan size?

your biggest improvement regardless of fan size would be to fabricate a fan shroud, or find a ready made shroud to fit your application.

Re: Do you think a sleeve will fix this?

Mart, I would think no method or product could seal that crack in that location. You've got expansion/contraction to beat the band right there, and no finger in the dike can plug it. But then,...

Re: 1939 pickup new distributor

Yep, I missed it. It seems his reason for changing was lack of local availability of parts, but these days, 99% of us are in that same boat along with him.

Re: 1936 vs 1937 Emergency Brake Lever

The '37 hand lever mounts in two places on the far left firewall and cowl. The dash would likely need to be removed to access the upper cowl mount location. Your easiest would be as suggested, to...

Re: 1936 vs 1937 Emergency Brake Lever

You've left out important info regarding transmission, driveshaft, and brakes, so any info given here would be guesswork at best.

Re: Mismatched drums won't fit

He flipped his backing plates for shock mount clearance. Then he had to flip his grease cups for clearance for the slave cylinders.

And yes, I said that word. I don't buy into this new...

Re: Champion H-9 plugs

Removing the rust may also remove the bluing. Converting the rust to iron oxide would not remove any bluing, and the resulting color of iron oxide would be a close match to the bluing. A product that...
