Perhaps the solder bump is too large and it prevents it from seating in the groove in the coil tower

One thing about a stock model A---if you over fill the crankcase it will adjust the level itself, and apply rustproofing to itself at the same time in some areas

I have seen the saddle split too. They bought some at work, I refuse to use ones with cast saddle, too brittle, brought in old USA ones with forged parts

Filter??? , debris in fuel tank???, tank venting??? Along with other posts--- similar carburetor used in 70s cars also can have screens above float valve or between fuel inlet and float valve

The engine is stock except for "B" cam, poured the mains a week before a 3000 mile trip, finally got it together the night before we left, broke it in on the road, second night it rocked on...

If you use the same thickness gasket the preload should be the same as before, only one side needs to be removed----but if you find worn bearings and replace them it may require changes

i have run my car on emission machine under load, both with regular unleaded, and 10
% ethnol, and kept fuel mileage log on a trip, on a several day trip with average speed over 60 i got 23 miles...

I think it was already repaired, the coloring on the gasket surface looks like there is a ground flush weld, and a crack in the shape of the marker line would usually extend through the gasket surface

I left the key on --- for 3 months, so totally dead battery, no voltage at all, put my 3 amp trickle charger on the car, hand cranked it to start, took off charger, drove to show 40 minutes, battery...

Do you have the cover over the bulb--- I drive a lot at night, don't notice any dash light reflection on other places, mine is a 31 with light up behind dash rail, all original parts
