We use buffing wheels of varying types, along with an appropriate compound. Eastwood makes good kits. Final polishing is done with a product called Simichrome, available at most motorcycle dealers.

Cork hardens over time and will not seal correctly when the bowl is removed and replaced. When cleaning the bowl, always have a new gasket available. At our shop we do not reuse gaskets of any type....
