Re: New Owner
I recently sent a good running not smoking 312 to the local machine shop. It was pretty dirty on the outside, fairly clean on the inside and had sat for several years. The previous owner got it...

Re: Fan shroud seal ('57 thunderbird)
Is it shown in the Trim & Sealer Manual? I've never noticed one in good condition before.
I just went out and looked at my '55 and also the shroud top from my '57.

Make sure the pitch of the speedo gear on the tail-shaft and the driven gear on the speedo cable match each other. Not sure if they can be right or left handed but check first.

Re: .Is this old "Y"block a 54 or 55 ? or what?
IF you're using the original Temperature sender in the head... be aware they aren't all the same.
Before '56 they were built for 6v, '56 was made for 12v but they look the same. May be marked 12v? ...

ECZ-6015-A is a '56 292/312 block number.
http://www.ford-y-block.com/Block%20identification.htm

Re: .Is this old "Y"block a 54 or 55 ? or what?

There are sample photos of their locations at the link he provided.

The L & R turn indicator lamps in the dash should light up at the same time as the L & R turn signal lamps at each end of the car.
You may have loose or oxidized ground connections at some of the...

I've got a couple for the distributors in my Birds. They seem to work well so far, about 2000 miles on my red '55,...

Re: 312 Y Block valve cover studs
Some of the 'replacement' style studs may(?) be very slightly longer than the originals, if that will help.
4.25 instead of 4.125 ???
Call the Parts or Tech Help phone numbers at these example...

You aren't alone. Most '55 to '57 T-Bird doors don't fit as well as they could.
