Boltcutter or plasmacutter down in the liftervalley and cut valvestems...turn it upside down...pound lifters up...get the cam...

Should have a drip pan instead of the plywood...real nice and easy to take out and put in the partswasher when done disassembling.

I have a holesaw the size of the bottom of the ring grooves on the outside of it i have a sleeve made of plastic to guide it an keep it from hitting the cyinderwalls.
You cut down enough to get by...

Since it now is std 239 and has a rebuild tag i suspect it started out as a 221.
Do a pencil test on it...
Thought the setting of the caliper was the reading...so itīs a 239...my mistake..

If you contact Tubman here on Fordbarn he sells a converter that lets you run any 12v tach of your choice on 6v pos ground.
Nothing wrong with the Westach but nice with a period correct tach...

Voltage number is in the high range...is the contacts really making contact or is there still oxide on them ?
I would make sure they are really clean before doing anything else...

Thoose mallory distributors had something called a spark control valve mixed into it just to complicate things if i remember right...

Only sheetmetal that goes on an oilpan i can think of is the clutchcover piece on a 2 piece truck oilpan...or the clean out cover...

Even a 3-brush generator wonīt manage to kill itself testfiring an engine for a short time...
The windings have to heat up enough to damage the insulation before bad things start to happen....

Generators donīt care about running unloaded..alternators is the ones that have a bad habbit of frying the solidstate parts in them.

I just suspect that a custom valveguide would be less costly then making custom valves...
Or you can make a sleeve/spacer to fit the guides you have now...

The problem isnīt that the bit canīt cut through the hard material.
Itīs that the load on the lathe is different when the bit hitīs a hardspot it moves away under the increased load.
Even a $250...

The thing is if the flywheel has hard spots on it taking a very light cut on a lathe will give you a surface that still has the hard spots...the cutting bit on the lathe will flex between the soft...

Iīve been running Tubmans capacitors for a couple of years now...works good and looks good !
All the Sun and SW tach driver boxes had mercury batteries in them...even if you find a new unused one...

Headbolts can be reused if they wasnīt abused being overtorqued.
Sealant is like flavour of icecream...we all have our favourite...i use loctite threadsealer...permatex or any pipethread sealer...

Depending on how hard you drive it...valves floating give you issues like that...
Burnt valves or a hole between heatriser and intake would make the car run bad...
Does it run as it should ?

The person repairing it would be able to tell you if it will work on neg. ground or not...it depends a lot on what was exhanged and if it has a solidstate vibrator in it now...
And alternators donīt...

The second setup from performanceonline works with your original pedals only needs a few holes drilled into the frame for a stabilizer bracket.

Ford lifters should be flat.
If you surface the lifters they can be reused on a new cam as long as they arenīt worn to the point they are loosing their strength...or get to short from adjustment...
