I don't think you said if the fan, belts or generator were mounted when you heard the noise. I had a squeal develop on an engine I had just finished rebuilding.It turning out to be the wrong fan belt...

Who do you recommend for fuel pumps, carb rebuild kits for 1939 to 1953 that will tolerate ethanol fuel. Several friends of mine in NC have early ford V8's that would like to know. Thanks in advance....

I would check with the radiator cap off to see if there is any bubbling. Sounds to me like you may have a blown head gasket. If you see bubbles in the water, the gasket is blown. I had this problem...

A friend of mine just finished building a 1931 Roadster and is making up a tool box for it. He is missing the jack handle and tire pump. Does anyone have an extra they want to sell ?
