1954-Orphan Ford OHV V8 (Y Block)

This is what my solo seat open wheel buddy said about 54 OHV V8.


'55 and up were a different engine.


Distributor had a different size opening in block for it.


Crankshaft had smaller...

Mechanical Fuel Injecton Parts WANTED

Enderle,Hillborn or Kinsler.


Crower or any make.


Fuel pump,barrel valve,shutoff valve and high speed bypass.


Any other parts like Dial A Jet.Small parts.

The most recent swap I have seen is big block Ford into '55-57 T bird.


I SAW it recently but it was probably done I would say in the 70's.

50's and early 60's were the heyday of engine swaps.


By the 70's these parts were going begging.


The factory big engines made swaps useless.

It says it is for '55 Chevy V8 to Ford OHV V8 (Y Block) type manual trans.

Happy New Year's!


Yesterday loosened up adapter and it won't budge.


Going to put 3in1 oil all around it and hope it softens up gasket.


This is one hefty carburetor!

In the meantime ran across a fairly simple way to have constant flow mechanical fuel



injection on your engine.Racing fuel injection.Not door car fuel injection.

The adapter on the bottom maybe a couple things.

Carb King/the carbureretor shop.com said it is a butterfly governor.

Said he has never seen one on...

Good story.Good insight too about OHV V8 rods and V8 rods.


Talked to 'The Man' about rod situation.


His 2 bits was use '62 292 rods and get the motor balanced.

Old timer told me the rods are cast iron!


Says you take the rod and hang it on a coat hanger.


Hit it with something metal.


If it goes 'Ting' it is forged steel.

More forum members would be a little more comfortable getting a brand new MSD box than buying a used 70's CDI off...
