Camraderie

'Been absent from this forum for awhile as my entire inventory of early Ford stuff found other homes, mostly given away in order to keep others' interest in the hobby going. Worked in some cases,...

Been running a Powermaster on the pickup for about five years. Does the job and looks pretty original.

Re: Pacific Northwest visit

It is a beautiful place to visit, for certain. What mrtexas says, x2. We visit Hurricane Ridge a couple of times each year. Worth the trip. You can't be in a rush though. Slow down and enjoy. ...

Re: It is so hard to get anyone to do anything

I have a many-years friend who is a machinist by profession (retired) and can fix ANYTHING. After retiring, he found his calling doing yacht repair - something that he loves to do and is...

Re: brought my 49 F-1 Home

Hard to go wrong with C&G and Dennis Carpenter for many of the odds and ends. NOS parts are becoming harder to find as time goes on.

Re: Opinion wanted regarding painting 1947 Merc. Convert.

Were that beautiful Mercury mine, I'd disassemble, taking LOTS of photos along the way. Because, at my age, the photos are always handy during reassembly. Most of the horror stories I've heard come...

Re: Distributor wanted

No disrespect for Charlie here. I know he does a great job. I have had only personal experience with Jim and his products and find both to be uncompromising.

Re: Radiators

Gotta go with Deuce_Roadster's suggestion - If possible, re-core. It doesn't matter HOW good a fit your manufacturer of a new radiator says their product will be, you'll wind up having to "adjust". ...

Re: What to use for truck running board paint?

Easypoxy, a urethane one-part marine paint, might be a viable option for you. I've used it extensively for boat decks (walk-on) and it lasts through years of traffic and is simple to recoat if you...

Re: Intro- Overkill-F1 and Rosie

I'm partial to the 51 & 52 f-1's, but love 'em all. Keep us posted on your progress. Reach out for ideas and experience. This place is the absolute best for both. You'll get "opinions", too. ...

Re: Glass Packs

Had Smithys on a pickup. Rusted out after a number of years. Replaced them with Brockman glass packs expecting a quieter exhaust. Disappointed. The Brockmans were much louder. Went back to...

Re: Which Inner tube for 16" Ford Steel Wheel

Re: old gas in tank

If you drive the vehicle only occasionally, you might consider using a good fuel treatment product. When I fill up my Jerry cans, I always add this product. That gives me up to two years to use the...

Re: New 94 carbs any good?

I finally gave up after a couple of rebuilds by quality folks and purchased a 94 from Dennis Carpenter. They pre-test every carb on a flathead motor. My engine ran great with almost no adjustments...

Re: PCV set-up for 1949-53 Merc engine

51 MERC-CT: I used one of these (or something very similar) on a flathead that I built four years ago. Works well. Used a different hose and fitting with it, but it does the job and is unobtrusive....

Re: Did cars smoke in the fifties?

Took a spill on a motorcycle when I was 16. Just pulling onto the street from a driveway and hit the oily streak down the center of the lane and both ends went out from under me. A lesson I never...
