Evans waterless coolant
I've been running Evans waterless coolant for a year now and I like it. No rust in the engine, no overheating, it works well. However lately I have noticed coolant weeping through the radiator outlet...

Re: Rough running Car
Finally got it fixed. After trying everything else I rebuilt the carburetor. The main jet and the compensator jet had a build up on them. I used a gas tank sealer when I restored my car. The sealer...

Rough running Car
I can't figure out what is wrong with my car. It is a fully restored 29 Model A sedan. The car ran great until lately. Now when the car first starts it runs fine, but after a couple of miles the...

Re: Shortened pitman
Hello Werner
My car is restored including the suspension, so everything is tight. I installed the shorter arm and it does help. The car is easier to drive and I don't notice any negative effects. I...

Hi DRG
I had a problem similar to what you are describing. My car started out as a complete basket case. Every part was rusty. I cleaned and derusted everything including the carburetor. The problem...

Re: temperature gauge
I agree with Kurt, however if you don't have a thermostat you may never reach 160 on cool days.

Re: Shorting pitman arm
Shortening the pitman arm will make it easier to steer. Just make sure everything else in the suspension is good.

Re: Mystery Engine Knock
is the piston hitting the head? The engine may have been fine when it was first rebuilt but a cracked piston could be giving you trouble now. Buy the way, I hope I'm wrong.

Re: Thread size for Model B jets
Gary is correct. 10-34 is close to 5mmX .75. I think that's why the incorrect size of 10-34 was used. 5mm x .75 is available. Try MSC or McMaster.

Waterless coolant
Does anyone use Evans (or any other) waterless coolant. Is it any good for a model A? How well does it work? I'm interested because of the corrosion protection it might give to the model A cooling...

Re: .0435 pistons
Check your bore size. A .040 piston may be able to have the skirt knurled oversize and fit just fine. My experience with Model A pistons is that they fit tight to begin with. The engines do run cold...

High compression engine life.
I am still running a stock head. I'm sure the high compression heads run better, more power, cleaner burning, etc. However that also means more load on the bearings. With a stock oil system (not...

Re: Rotella T4 oil, dirty oil
Your oil is not getting dark because it is the wrong oil. The air and oil filters also have little to do with it. It gets dark because of the incomplete and inefficient combustion of the Model A...

I use SAE 140 wt. gear oil and it works fine. To thick an oil can be a problem just as to thin can be.

I don't like them. They are not original looking at all. We have hand signals. HOWEVER, after I finished my car and took it for a short drive, I put them on my car. It is better to be safe. There are...

Re: Gas tank cap venting?
The gas cap is not high tech there is a small hole that vents pressure. Look at your cap. If there is a small hole in the inner cap(caps are made in two pieces) and the hole is not blocked, your good.
