Re: Fuse blowing

This may help. Also check the terminal block on the firewall. The repose often allows the head of each screw to back off at the back and touch the firewall and short out.

Re: Holes not lined up on Universal Housing

Old Henry set you up for this problem almost 100 years ago. He did it just to confuse and confound the future Model A kingdom.

Re: pinion gear double cup bearing issue

The reason the double pinion bearing race fell out during disassembly is because it had spun in the banjo housing mounting. You can see the spin marks in the banjo photo. This is because the last...

Re: Rear End Rebuild Advice/Help Needed

I agree.

The trick is to torque only the right side. Then install the carrier and start running the bolts down on the left side evenly and turn the ring gear with your finger until you feel it...

Re: Rear End Rebuild Advice/Help Needed

Denny:

You need to add more shims under the bearings on each side of the carrier to be able to install at least one .010 paper gasket on each side of the banjo to achieve the proper pre-load,...

Re: Carb Disassembly Tips

Be very careful with the disassembly. A lot of good Zeniths have been destroyed during disassembly. The attached document should guide you through it.

Re: Original Ford wrench question

There is another set of original Ford wrenches that is not often seen. These were probably mostly used at the Ford dealerships. I found a set at the Turlock swap meet years ago and have used them...

Re: Mitchell Overdrive

Only the later Mitchell overdrives have these grease fittings. The only lubrication on the older ones is the gear oil that you need to change periodically. The two grease fittings on the later ones...

Re: Pressure Plate Fingers

If you are using a Model A pressure plate, be sure to check the step on the flywheel where the pressure plate bolts up. The original depth is 1.123", Often a flywheel was resurfaced without the same...

Re: Pressure Plate Fingers

As the fellow above says, it must be a fully assembled clutch attached to the flywheel. The measurement is from the flat surface of the pressure plate to the top of each finger.

Re: Model A Hard to Steer

There is a better steering box lube than 600W. You also do not want to use grease if there is a grease fitting on the box.

An F100 steering box conversion is also a good choice. Contact Randy...

Re: T rear spring in the rear of model a??

Roadsters are supposed to have a 7-leaf spring, coupes & Tudors an 8-leaf spring, all others a 10-leaf spring. I suggest you find at least an 8-leaf spring and replace the 10-leaf with it.
