Re: Gasoline tank for 57 Wagon

A few years ago I investigated getting a new gas tank for my '55 Courier wagon and read the webpages of a few different manufacturers (some of which were suppliers of the repro parts places we all...

Re: Fuel Pump Fittings

regardless of which pump you have, they use the NPT (tapered) National pipe thread fitting.
You won't see much straight pipe thread used in plumbing these days. Back in the late 1800's and early...

Re: Air Vent left of Steering Column ??

When you locate the air duct (under the fender) where the bellcrank is for the damper, there should be a bracket sticking up on that duct which has a little hold down clip, held on to the bracket...

Re: 55 F100 U Joints

Bear in mind, the splined output shaft of your transmission should be thoroughly greased, because that yoke will slide back and forth on the shaft as you go over bumps or load down the bed of the...

Re: Fuel Pump Fittings

Okay, so, that is a brass fitting and it is a NPT thread (tapered pipe thread). At the very most, you might be able to get away with using a new fitting that you put on your pump ONE MORE TIME...

Re: '54 Ford Lower Control Arm Washer

I don't know if they still sell it, but Obsolete & Classic Parts used to sell a kit #B6A-3048 that has all the replacement parts for both front lower control arm bushing replacement. Kit includes (2)...

Re: '54 Ford Lower Control Arm Washer

I believe the '54 frame is the same as the '55 & '56 and that the '53 and earlier used the '49 frame.
So, if '54 and '55 are the same, you should have a large pin that goes thru the front frame...

Re: idle adjusting needles

Are you sure you installed the little check ball in the bottom of the accelerator pump chamber with the spring clip. That ball sits in a little hole and is held down by the spring clip. On Holley...

Re: idle adjusting needles

Here's what I do with my EBU carbs. PRIOR TO installing a carb back on the car after I have done a rebuild, I always set the carb on an open tuna fish can, on a level table. I fill the float bowl...

Re: 1955 Ford Ranch Wagon , Looking for part ID

It might be a long wait. I ordered a new '55 speedo lens two years ago from TWO different repro parts suppliers. Still waiting.
Did you try Concours Parts, Dennis Carpenter, any of the other guys?

Re: Need Deck Lid Skin for 56 T-Bird

If a new skin is not available, there are two other options:
Get a deck lid from a junkyard if rust hasn't eaten holes thru the outer skin. Use a putty knife to scrape off the tar/asphalt coating on...

Re: 1955 Ford Ranch Wagon , Looking for part ID

I just looked in an OLD (2017) catalog from Obsolete and Classic auto parts in Oklahoma City.
They showed the entire kit with idler arm, both bushings, rubber grease seals and two grease fittings...

Re: 1955 Ford Ranch Wagon , Looking for part ID

Yes the manual steering idler arm is completely different from the power steering idler arm. You may be in for a shock. Last time I looked in Mac's, they were only offering the manual steering idler...

Re: Auto transmission safety switch 57 Ford

BTW, the repro starter neutral switches (now costing an arm and a leg) aren't worth a hoot. The contacts inside the switch are substandard and mounting method on the arm is pitiful. Cheap Chinese...

Re: Auto transmission safety switch 57 Ford

If the ignition switch cranks the starter no matter what gear the select lever is in, then a previous owner has bypassed the starter neutral switch by disconnecting the two red wires from the bullet...

Re: idle adjusting needles

I've had problems with power valves that come in the rebuild kits. And, their gaskets suck too. In the last couple of years I have special ordered power valves from places that will sell individual...

Re: Y block fuel pump

Those new pumps you get that now cost $109.00 are junk. Made in china! they have really good pump diaphragm material. Problem with them is those two check valves in the bottom chamber go haywire. You...

Re: 1956 rear quarter panels

Come to think of it, forget the repro parts suppliers. You may be able to order directly from EMS. Look for their website on the internet.

Re: 1956 rear quarter panels

The rear quarter replacement panels come in two sections.
You can get left side or right side from Mac's.
The front section goes from back of door opening to middle of wheel well opening.
The rear...

Re: y block fuel pump

I got one for a 223 6-cyl and one for a 272Y-block that did include new bolts (both from a local auto parts store, but that was back in the early '90's (pre-NAFTA).
Thank you Mr. Trump for blowing...

Here's a photo of the original '55 Ford fuel sending unit. The '54 part is probably same.

Re: y block fuel pump

The Y-block fuel pump requires two bolts with lockwashers and one mounting gasket. One of the bolts probably did not get inserted into the box before shipping.

Re: 55 Windshield washer pump location

That's right, they drive on the wrong side of the road, I forgot. That means the original foot pump won't work unless you turn it 90 degrees so that the pump pedal is aiming downward, and then, would...

Re: 55 Windshield washer pump location

Well, if ya go out and open the hood and look just above the flat part of the inner fender apron on the driver side you will see a small knockout on the firewall. It's about 1/2 inch in diameter and...
