Re: Installing the control rods

This was the most frustrating part of helping a friend restore his '30 coupe. We spent hours trying, with lots of different methods, to put the rods in. Then BAM they were in. Like Jackson says...

Never thought I'd say it, but I can't wait for my grass to grow in northern Ohio springtime.

Re: Tow Companies

I looked at this issue last summer. I've had AAA for years and have had my model A towed four times in the past. I checked with my insurance companies last fall and found that towing was available on...

Re: License Plates

I agree with 37 Coupe in posting #10. I see bucket T's at the cruise ins with a 1923 license plate on the rear. With a huge Chevy engine with a blower on it, tell me what part of this "car" is a...

Re: License Plates

JD,
I registered a YOM plate on my '30 town sedan in 1994 and I drive it anywhere I want and haven't been questioned once. Actually I had only one plate when two were required back then.

Re: Shortened Pitman Arm

Ford1930,
I put one on my 1930 Ford a couple years and actually I can't see a difference and I've been driving this car for 27 years.

Re: Close spray paint color.

The local auto paint store near me would match your color and put it in a rattle can for about $25.00 a can. This was a couple years ago.

Re: Path of Engine Oil

Regarding "Oil Slinger." I got that term from Les Andrews red book that says "the oil cap slinger must face the camshaft." This is on the cap on the bottom of the connecting rod. (Andrews book page...

Path of Engine Oil

Friend, Bob, is trying to follow the path of lube oil in a Model A engine. We thought we saw a diagram of where the oil goes in a running engine, but can't remember where. We know the pistons are...

Re: Gear oil

A Model A friend swore that 600W was 600 weight oil, until I stopped at a local business that sells heavy lubricants. I asked if they carried 600 weight and was told that the heaviest they handled...

Re: spark plug caps

I don't mind "messing about" especially on these cold winter days. It keeps my mind and my hands busy.

Re: Preferred Vendor for parts?

CC-Mo,
Let us know where you are located. I'm about 100 miles from Snyder's in Ohio and it's a fun drive for a couple of us "A" guys to go, have lunch, and be back in time to put some parts on. The...

Re: spark plug caps

Well, I just finished putting my Spark Plug Caps on my car and they look great. This was a fun project that only cost about six bucks. The caps and the knurled nuts all came from Lowes. When I...

Re: spark plug caps

I really like the look of these caps. I'm on my way out to buy some caps at Home Depot. And these don't affect the plugs or the way the car runs?

Re: 1931 - 170B Fordor DeLuxe Sedan

Cape Codder,
I don't think I've ever seen a '31 Blindback. Does it have a slant windshield? Is it a town sedan? Does it have a fold down backseat arm rest? Inquiring minds want to know.

Re: loping engine?

Well, we put the manifolds back on all tight and sealed. We started the car and the loping was back. We tried a different carburetor and the engine ran smoothly. We took apart the original carb...
