Gas struts for a 46 hood

I'm looking to put gas struts on my 46 hood. Has anyone done this and if so where did you mount them? A photo would help.

My first car was a 1948 Buick that my dad got from free from a coworker at his work. I sold that car for $40 and bought a 29 Ford two door. I traded it for a 32 3 window coupe.

42-48 Inner fenders

Ford bumpers will not work as they have 4 holes to mount the bumper to the brackets which includes the uprights but the Mercury bumper has a total of 6 holes, 2 for the mounting brackets and one hole...

I removed the gas cap and the retainer that the gas cap tightens to so that I could paint the car. Now I cannot find it and cannot find one on line.

My 46 also has a GM running gear. I purchased a Champion radiator that was made for a 46 but with GM hose locations. The radiator just bolted into place without any problems using the original...
