Re: Last years body on this years car

I see no mystery here at all. The car is what it is. A talented builder can make anything his imagination desires, its only metal. Go over to the HAMB and see what some guys are putting together.

Re: 57 hardtop

Big rust problem with the 57s is around the headlights. And the leading edge of the hood. Other places are typical of most old cars, bottom of front fender, front part of rear quarter in front of...

I have what I think is a trunk lid emblem from a 1965 Galaxie. I had three 65 Galaxies at one time and I think this is off of one of them. It is ok for a driver car. Backside is rusty but there are...

Re: Painting Over Water !!!!!!!!!!!

My first paint job was when I was a kid and I painted my dad's 51 pickup in October. It was supposed to be bright red. And it was bright red for a few months. After that he found himself driving...

Re: Thanks Charlie NY....

Charlie did the carb for my 48. I bolted it on and it cranked and ran smooth as a baby's butt immediately. Can't be more pleased with his work.

Re: Who sells frame bolts that look like rivets

I would "assume"(we all know what that means) that most people with these old Fords do not build them for judging, we just build them to enjoy. I like a perfectly restored car as much as anyone but...

Re: 1932 Ford Pickup wood fasteners

I bought SS carriage bolts from Lowe's. Unless you are doing an actual restoration, they are close enough that the difference in head size isn't noticeable. They fit just like the rusty ones I...

Re: 226G vs 226H

Maybe if the original post's title mentioned 6 cylinder. I didn't know what the heck he was talking about until Mercman posted those photos.

Re: Risk of using old (over 10 years) tires

I don't drive my old cars over 45-50 mph. I avoid 4 lane highways and enjoy the back roads and local streets. I have only had one blowout in 55 years of driving and that was a recap so I will take...

Re: Risk of using old (over 10 years) tires

Out of the 8 cars and trucks I have, only one has tires newer than 10 years. I will take my chances.

Re: 3 window and 5 window coupes

I wish I could afford a 3 window. I have a 32 5 window and even with my average feet, I sometimes have to contort my legs to get my feet between the seat and the door opening. I love the 5 windows...

Re: Saving The 1939 Mercury Coupe From The Rust Lagoon

Marginal at best. Probably not one part on it usable as is. Sometimes you are just too late to save them.
