Re: Out of round tire

I had 5 nearly new tires shaved by John Warden in Green Mountain, Iowa a few years ago. It cost me less than 100 dollars for all 5. Money well spent for me. I would have spent 7 or 8 hundred to...

Do any of the parts from a 1947 3 speed side shift interchange with the 33-39 top shift transmissions?

Re: Front wheel bearings

[QUOTE=1948F-1Pickup;1781033]I work in technical sales for a bearing manufacturer in the US.
I pretty much agree with some of this. At the beginning of the process,
when you crank down on the nut...

Re: Front wheel bearings

It is all in the "feel". The more you do it you get used to it. You want no preload and no play. I used to repair forklift trucks that had tapered bearings but required 40 lbs. of preload. The rear...

Re: When did Ford switch 6 to 12v ?

I wonder if they left the 6 volt starter in the car. I switched an old Allis Chalmers tractor to 12 volts but kept the 6 volt starter. This was a common practice and in 25+ Years it was the best...

Re: Fixer's idea or aftermarket?

I just assumed that drop lever would be OK as it is the lever on the column drop. My mind is probably "down under" most of the time. The parts book calls it (column drop) lock assembly:steering and...

Re: Fixer's idea or aftermarket?

Me three. However, the door lock levers are crimped over to hold an insert. If it is a door lock lever, someone did a PERFECT job cutting the crimp off and making the resulting hole perfectly round...

Re: Fixer's idea or aftermarket?

If you look at the first picture I posted you can see that the tapered recess for the hold down screw is small, like the door lock lever. The original screw would protrude out too far.

Re: Fixer's idea or aftermarket?

The lever appears to be stamped brass and plated. It is not magnetic. If someone made this from a door lock lever it was done very well. It fits tightly and I have not tried to remove it.

Fixer's idea or aftermarket?

This 33-34 drop lever appears to be a door lock lever altered to repair the drop lever or else an aftermarket part to repair the often broken switch lever. It fits perfectly. Has anyone seen this...
