Looking for good hood for 54 merc monterey that can be shipped to alaska. Hood latch failed at 55 mph. Aint pretty!

This is a treadle vac. Get no boost whatsoever and pedal is rock hard as expected without the booster. I know there are kits available and it should not be over my skill range Could it be...

Booster seems to check out ok but when I push the pedal, it obviously loses vacuum to the point that engine almost dies. Have 16 in vacuum at manifold connection. Can find no hose leaks. Looks like...

On my 50 with 8ba the header sits about 3/4 inch from starter so not even much room for heat shield but will fab one. Seems like the stock manifold wasn't that close. May go back to stock set up....

WOW! Thks for all the feedback. Have found 60-15s here in Alaska. Slightly used but not much. If it doesn't pan out, I will eventually order radials but coker wants $150.00 freight each. Thanks...

Thks Jim. That is exactly what I thought. The car is 1/2 my daughters so I best stay with bias ones. You know anyone who would have some 670-15 or thereabouts?

Put a later model switch on my54.Starts in park only now. Had to make a bracket to offset it to clear dual exhaust manifold. Little adjustment and it works fine. Car carrier guy couldn't start it...

Need to change neutral safety switch on my 54 merc to one that will allow it to start in park as well as neutral. What switch will work?? Any hints on shifting the new switch so as to make more room...

Seems to me that white smoke always meant water not oil burning. Blown head gasket or cracked head will show up as white smoke.
Just for what its worth.

It is a treadle vac and the m cyl reservoir mounts crosswise to the cyl/booster.

I have an Edelbrock dry element cleaner on my 54 merc with teapot. Has a tall phenolic adapter the height of the carb. works great.

Thks for the comeback. My NS switch sits between the column and exhaust manifold so is a problem. Maybe Merc and Ford are diff. Looks like a complicated fabrication job
coming up.

Putting dual exhausts on 54 merc and need to move the neutral safety switch up to clear the stock dual exhaust manifold. Must have been a stock bracket for it but can't find one.
Any ideas
