Re: 5 spd in a 37 pickup with a 4.44 rearend.

I absolutely agree with the close-ratio derivatives. Even the EARLY Chevy and Ford gear sets had the 2.95 1st gear (close-ratio). DD

Re: 5 spd in a 37 pickup with a 4.44 rearend.

If that is indeed an S-10 trans, it's more than likely that the 1st gear ratio is going to be 4.03. I'd be more concerned that by combining that 1st gear ratio with a 4.44 rear end would just about...

Re: Blowing fuses in my '33

More than likely, a 20 amp fuse would blow more frequently, or at least sooner than a 25 would under the same "problem" condition. The 25 amp fuse (vs. the 20 amp) is probably only "band-aiding" the...

Re: need rear brake drum ID's ?

If you were actually asking about INSIDE DIAMETER (ID), they are 12" from the factory, with a MAXIMUM after any turning operation of 12.060". DD

Re: Deuce Deuce? Deuce Squared?

I'm really liking the slight rake, along with the wheels and "big 'n little" tires. What type of tires did you end-up with? Really nice little coupe! DD

Re: Drag Link on a '40

I think (but what the heck do I know) I would just get the proper spindle and be done with it. They're still plentiful and reasonable. In fact, any serious old Ford guy ought to have a bunch of...

Re: Drag Link on a '40

Fact of the matter is that even if the tapered hole in the spindle arm were tapered such that you could install with the nut on bottom, the drag link won't clear the bottom of the '37-'40 wishbone,...

It's been roughly three years since Heard and I put this article up here on the 'Barn, and although we have probably received about twenty or so PMs with questions about our Jeep T5 conversion, we...

Re: Juice brake question

Just beware that you must use '37-'41 king pins. King pins always match the year of spindles. And the tapered hole in the passenger side for the drag link will be tapered opposite the '48 taper. ...

Re: New tires for my 36- which ones should I buy?

At the least, you may want to try using a black "SHARPIE" or some other way of coloring those wheel weights BLACK so they don't stand-out like a huge sore thumb. Otherwise, your tires/wheels look...

Re: 40 Standard radiator in a 39 Standard?

Fair question, I guess. Of course, the coil is an aftermarket 'can' type. It's pretty-much in the stock location. Nowhere near the exhaust, so it should run NEAR water temp considering it's...
